A quick reintroduction to retexturing 🛣️

Retexturing is a surface treatment that restores microtexture or macrotexture, helping to improve skid resistance and extend the effective life of the pavement.

WJ offers two types of retexturing:

⚫ Captive shot blasting: Graded steel shot is fired at the road surface to reprofile the aggregate. This improves the aggregate’s microtexture, enhancing skid resistance, while also helping to restore the surface’s macrotexture.

💦 Hydro retexturing: High-pressure water jets remove excess bitumen and binder from the road surface, restoring the pavement’s texture and improving its performance. Especially after hot summers, where bitumin bleed is common across local roads.

Welcome to WJ 🎉

Last week, we welcomed six new starters to our Stoke-on-Trent training centre. During their induction, the group took part in hands-on training, safe urban driving training, classroom sessions and a range of other courses to prepare them for their new roles.

Our new starters are now heading across the country to join depots and crews in Louth, Chesterfield, Stoke and Lincoln, where they’ll continue their WJ careers.

We’re delighted to welcome them all to the team and wish them every success in their new roles.
