A solar installer told me last week he won't put his price online. "They'll see the number, dismiss it, and I never get to explain why it's worth it."
Fair worry. But turn it over.
If a price scares someone off the second they see it, it was always going to. Doing it after two days and three sofa visits just means you found out slower, and spent more getting there. The price reveal is coming either way. Early and cheap, or late and expensive.
Here's the bit that gets missed though. A price on its own is just a number. But a live, interactive quote, with the kit, the warranties, videos of your recent installs, links straight to your Google and Trustpilot reviews, the reason it costs what it costs, is a different thing entirely. Value doesn't have to be delivered in person, on a sofa. It can be built into the quote itself.
And think who you're selling to now. They've researched the kit. They've read the reviews. They can get a car lease quote in two minutes without speaking to a soul. The last thing they want is three separate evenings of installers running through the awards and the head office speech.
They want the number. Give it to them, with the value wrapped around it, and the ones who come back have already accepted the price.
That changes your job completely. You're not walking into a cold room to defend a number. You're walking into a warm one to win a job.
A tool like Solar Quote Pro doesn't replace your selling. It protects it. It makes sure your time lands on people who are actually in the game.
The quote is still just a quote. How you win the job is still down to you.
