Full strip and refit, natural slate. 🏠

This roof had reached the end of its life, so the team stripped it right back and re-laid it in natural slate — proper craftsmanship from start to finish, and a roof built to last for decades.

There's something satisfying about a job done the traditional way, with materials that stand the test of time.

Another roof and another job we're proud to put our name to. 😊

Sophie is 22 and fighting stage 4 bowel cancer, and funds raised are going towards advanced treatment that could give her the best possible chance.

We recently removed a large chimney and sealed it in beautifully. 🧱🔨

An unused chimney can be a real weak spot on a roof, cracked pointing, leaks, and slow decay. Taking it down and sealing it properly doesn't just tidy up the roofline, it protects the whole property for years to come.

Skilled work, seamless finish. That's how we do it. 💪

Q: How does your garden grow?
A: On my roof, thank you very much 🌱

This little flat roof had gone properly wild — moss, weeds, the lot. Turns out nature had been having a great time up there for a while, and underneath it wasn't looking much better.

Here's what the job involved:

✅Stripped back the old covering (and the garden that came with it!)
✅Found the timbers underneath had rotted through — a job that needed doing
✅Replaced with fresh timbers and a new OSB deck
✅Fitted insulation for a warmer, more efficient space
✅Finished with a brand new EPDM covering, fully welded and watertight

No more moss or leaking misery — just a solid, secure roof ready for years to come.

𝐎𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐟𝐟, 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐧 — and what a difference a fresh deck and proper insulation makes! 👀

This one had seen better days. Years of wear had left the felt tired and patchy, so we stripped it right back, re-laid a solid new OSB deck, and packed in PIR insulation board (to keep the heat in and the cold out) before welcoming back our trusted friend, EPDM, to finish things off.

Smooth, watertight, and built to handle whatever the Welsh weather throws at it for years to come.👌

This one was a proper eye-opener once we got the old covering off so we stripped this flat roof right back and renewed it from the deck up.

The old felt had given up long before we got there — moss and standing water had worked their way in, and underneath it the timbers had rotted through completely in places, leaving gaps you could literally put your hand through. No quick patch was ever going to sort that, so it all came off and we started fresh with new OSB decking throughout.

Finished with a new EPDM covering — our trusted friend for flat roofs (a single rubber membrane with no joints for water to find its way through). Neat, watertight, and built to last for years without a second thought.

Small but perfectly formed and another one the team can be proud of. 👍

Four decades in, and what we're most proud of isn't the years — it's the team we've built along the way.

Phillips & Son has always been about more than roofs. We're a solid part of the Neath community, from sponsoring Ynysygerwn Cricket Club to supporting Shelter Cymru and backing the Jacket Potato stall in Neath — a local fixture nearly as long-standing as we are and ever-so slightly more delicious! 🥔

But just as important to us is what happens on the tools: bringing new tradespeople through, passing on the skills that took years to learn, and making sure the next generation of roofers coming up through Phillips & Son do it properly.

40 years old this year, and still growing the team for the next 40. 🏠
