Ever noticed the end of your tape measure wiggles about? π Turns out that's not a fault, it's there on purpose.
In this one, we show why that little bit of movement matters. It's what lets your tape give a true reading whether you're hooking it over an edge or pushing it up against something for an inside measurement. Simple bit of engineering, but genuinely useful once you know why it's there.
Here's the catch though: that trick only works from an edge. Measuring from a line marked on a piece of timber is a different job altogether, and needs a different approach.
