So the other day, i was scrolling through fb as one does and came across a post. A lady had posted that she had had a fire in her bedroom caused by a candle placed on top of her wardrobe. She was asking for advice on how to clean the smoke damage. Alot of lovely people with trying to give her advice on what to use, but, looking at the damage caused, i wanted to help her out by going to assess the damage and see what i could do to help.
The first thing she said when i went round was that she didnt have much money, so I told her that she wasnt going to be charged anything to get it sorted.
These days in the current situation, painting and decorating is becoming a luxury, where as for others, it is quite literally a necessity.
So, a good clean and treatment of the smoke damage and a full paint of the room and new trunking replacement, due to the fire melting the old one.
The reason i'm posting this is for 2 reasons:
1. Please, please, please take care when lighting candles around the house. People don't realise how dangerous they can actually be, especially as its time for Yankie candle stocking fillers.
2. For the sake of a day and a half of free labour and a pot of paint, it has made a huge difference to someone who was in need of help.
Painting a room or a full house for anyone is a reward in itself, because my job is to make a house a home for my customers. Helping someone who is in genuine need of help is a gift.
One simple act of kindness, can make all the difference in the world to a person who is struggling.
Be kind, and give your time to someone just because you can, its worth more than you realise.
