Why you will not gain much with plug in Solar and how a full pv solar and storage system will always be cost effective, The maximum allowed 800w has not much impact after spending up to £800 of your hard earned money. You will also need to make sure your current system has been checked and up to regulation, which will add more to the cost. For anyone not sure on the rules for plug in solar here they are explained below.
The Rules Explained
The Network Limit: National grid rules under Engineering Recommendation G98 cap plug-in micro-generators at strictly one system per property.
The Circuit Specification: While technical product rules (Interim Product Specification v2) were written to allow one device per final ring circuit, the tighter network rules override this. The stricter rule always wins.
Multiple Panels on One Device: A single approved plug-in device can often include more than one physical solar panel connected to a single micro-inverter, provided the total AC output does not exceed the legal limit (typically 800W).
No Daisy-Chaining: You cannot plug multiple separate kits or devices into different sockets on the same circuit or link them together. Read more about this distinction on the Balcony Solar Guide UK.
