🌧️ The rain is finally returning! 🌱

After such a long, dry spell, lawns are gradually starting to green up again as moisture returns to the soil.

But the summer may have left your lawn weakened and stressed, and this is when weeds can really start to take advantage. Also dry, compacted soil can also develop high surface tension, meaning rainfall may initially struggle to pe*****te properly.

This is why autumn is such an important time for aeration and scarification and it’s all beginning now!

Helping the grass recover now gives it a better chance of filling out those weaker areas and keeping weeds from taking over as we head into autumn. 🍂🌱

Rain, rain… i’m not complaining! 🌧️🌱

After all the heat and dry weather, it’s good to finally see some rainfall.

Even better when it comes with a rainbow 🌈💚

It’s going to be another busy Autumn for lawn care 🫶

The diary is already 80% filled for September & October slots.

As the weather cools and moisture returns, lawns are heading into one of the best periods for recovery and growth.

Scarification helps remove built-up thatch and dead material, while aeration relieves compaction and gets more air, water and nutrients down to the roots.

Combined with the right treatments, these autumn jobs can give your lawn a healthier, thicker start going into winter and set it up beautifully for next spring. 💚

If your lawn would benefit from some autumn attention, get in touch to discuss what’s needed.

🥀 BROWN LAWN - DON'T PANIC! 🥀

Weeks of scorching heat and minimal rainfall have left gardens across Devon looking parched, with vibrant green lawns turning into dry, crispy brown patches.

With local hosepipe bans adding to the stress, many concerned homeowners are left wondering if their grass has died beyond recovery.

However, lawn experts urge gardeners not to rush into drastic measures, as brown grass is usually just protecting itself.

Popular TikTok gardener "Gardening with Ish" recently explained that what looks like permanent damage is actually a natural survival mechanism where the grass goes dormant during severe heatwaves.

Attempting to aggressively fix dormant patches can actually cause more harm than good to your lawn. Experts advise leaving dry, brown areas completely alone until the weather breaks, as the grass roots remain alive under the surface and will naturally recover when regular rain returns.

For any remaining green areas, maintenance should be kept gentle by adjusting your mower to its highest setting. Longer blades shade the soil, retain vital ground moisture, and promote deeper root growth, while leaving the grass clippings on the ground acts as a natural mulch to trap dampness.

Ultimately, holding off on your normal mowing and feeding routine is the best strategy during prolonged dry spells. Once lower temperatures return and the entire lawn bounces back, you can safely resume your regular gardening care!

☀️ Dry weather doesn’t mean lawn care has to stop. 🌱

Treatments applied now are to suit the conditions, using slow-release organic fertiliser, 100% organic biostimulants, and, where appropriate, wetting agents to help water soak into the soil more effectively

These treatments aren’t about forcing growth during dormancy, they’re about protecting your lawn and putting it in the best possible position to recover quickly and green up once the rain returns.

Every lawn is assessed individually, with treatments tailored to the conditions.

It is nice to enjoy the Summer weather though hopefully some rain will come through soon 😁

🌱 Summer Green-Up Boost

With the recent heatwave behind us and more warm weather expected this summer, now is an ideal time to give your lawn a natural green-up boost.

I’m applying a 100% organic biostimulant alongside a 100% organic, slow-release, low-nitrogen fertiliser to maintain healthy colour, encourage strong root development, and help lawns continue to perform well through the summer months.

This treatment helps to:
🌿 Enhance natural colour without excessive top growth
🌿 Promote deeper, healthier root systems
🌿 Improve resilience during periods of heat and dry weather with quicker and improved recovery from heat stress
🌿 Feed the soil and support beneficial microbial activity
🌿 Provide a steady release of nutrients through to Autumn

My approach is about working with the climate and weather, adapting treatments to the conditions rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.

Where possible, regular watering will always help lawns through prolonged dry spells. Alongside that, I use organic products to support long-term lawn health and keep herbicide use to a minimum by target spraying only individual weeds where treatment is genuinely needed.

☀️ Summer is just around the corner, and this lawn is looking ready for it! 🌱

After months of care and attention, it’s great to see the grass looking lush, healthy, and full of colour. Regular lawn treatment applications throughout the year, combined with aeration work last year, have helped create a stronger, healthier root system and a thicker lawn that’s set to thrive through the warmer months ahead.

Now is the perfect time to enjoy the garden and make the most of those longer days and sunny evenings. Here’s hoping for plenty of sunshine! 🌿😎

🌱 Looking sharp! The lawn is thriving, lush, green, and looking its absolute best. All the hard work is paying off, and it’s ready for summer days ahead. ☀️

A big part of that success comes from regular lawn treatment applications throughout the year, along with a scarification last autumn to remove built-up thatch and encourage healthy new growth. The results are really showing now, with a thicker, healthier lawn that’s looking better than ever.
