🎨 CHEAP, FAST… OR DONE PROPERLY? 🤔🖌️

A little food for thought if you’re currently looking for a decorator… 🏠✨

I often see posts asking for someone who is available immediately, can get the job done quickly, won’t “rip you off” and can offer the cheapest possible price. 💷⏱️
And I completely understand wanting to get good value for your money. But there’s an important difference between a job done quickly and a job done properly. 👀

Good decorating isn’t just about putting paint on a wall. 🎨
A professional finish starts long before the first coat goes on — with preparation, filling, sanding, caulking, protecting surfaces, using the right products and taking the time to get the details right. 🛠️🖌️✨
Those are often the things you don’t notice when the job is finished well… but you definitely notice when they’ve been skipped. 🔍
So if you’re choosing a decorator purely because they’re the cheapest, can start tomorrow and promise to finish in record time, it’s worth asking yourself:
👉 Where exactly are that time and money being saved?
Sometimes the cheapest quote can turn out to be the most expensive one — especially if the job needs doing twice. 💷
✨ Good preparation takes time.
🎨 A good finish takes time.
🖌️ And quality workmanship should last.
Choose the finish you want — not just the quickest price and the earliest start date. 🏠✨

🎨 When I’m not painting walls… I’m usually still painting something! 😄
This is what I like to do in my spare time — working with leather, designing, tooling and hand-painting small, completely individual pieces.
This one is another piece from a larger private commission. My customer wanted a special gift for each member of the family, with every keyring individually designed to combine that person’s Chinese and European Zodiac signs.
This time — Tiger & Libra. 🐅⚖️
Made from genuine leather, hand-tooled, hand-painted and hand-stitched with strong, durable thread, then carefully sealed with a protective varnish to help protect the artwork and colours.
Whether I’m working on someone’s home or on one of these little projects, I’m a bit obsessed with the same thing — good workmanship, attention to detail and making things that are built to last. 😊
I make both men’s and women’s versions, with each design created individually around the customer’s ideas.
I do occasionally take custom orders for these too — although you may need a little patience, as they’re made in my spare time and each one takes quite a while to complete. 🖤

A little something you may not know about me… 😊
Some of you already know that, whenever I can find a little free time (which hasn't been very often lately! 😅), I disappear into my tiny home studio and work on another passion of mine – handcrafted leatherwork.
I create hand-painted and hand-carved leather keyrings, enjoying every little detail, every brushstroke and every cut. 🎨✨
Sometimes people ask me which I enjoy more – decorating homes or creating miniature pieces like these. The truth is... I genuinely can't choose.
Whether I'm transforming an entire room or painting a piece of leather that fits in the palm of my hand, I get exactly the same satisfaction from creating something beautiful with my own hands.
I think that's one of the reasons I approach decorating the way I do. The patience, attention to detail and love of craftsmanship that go into my leatherwork naturally carry over into every decorating project I take on.
So if you're looking for someone who genuinely loves the craft, takes pride in the details, and cares about achieving a beautiful finish rather than rushing through a job, we might just be a good match. 😊

A Quick Update for My Clients 💛

To all my wonderful returning clients, and to everyone who has recently contacted me for a quotation or a site visit – thank you so much for your patience.

Summer is by far the busiest time of the year for decorators. Alongside interior projects, we're also working on exterior jobs while the weather allows, which makes this season incredibly busy.
I've recently received a large number of enquiries, and I truly appreciate every single one of them. Every quotation I prepare is tailored to the individual project. I take the time to visit when needed, carefully assess the work, research the most suitable professional materials, and put together a detailed quotation that reflects the best approach for your home and the highest standard of finish. That process takes time, but I believe it's worth doing properly rather than rushing it.
Alongside preparing quotations, I'm also working on-site most days of the week, so I'm doing my very best to fit everything in.

✨ A wallpapering project that I thoroughly enjoyed! ✨

This project involved installing three different mural wallpapers across several rooms, each with its own challenges. Every wallpaper was individually chosen and ordered by the client from Poland 🇵🇱, with each 100 cm panel printed separately, making careful planning and precise installation absolutely essential.
Some walls included multiple sockets positioned in a row, as well as internal and external corners, all of which required accurate measuring, careful planning and perfect pattern alignment. With bespoke mural wallpapers like these, precision is key from the very first panel.
The finished result completely transformed each space. 🤩 The client was delighted with the outcome, and I genuinely enjoyed working with such stunning, high-quality mural wallpapers.

✨ FROM MDF TO MADE-TO-MEASURE ELEGANCE ✨

Sometimes the most impressive transformations aren't about replacing furniture – they're about reimagining an entire space. 🤍
This project involved much more than painting a wardrobe and chest of drawers. I was responsible for the complete decorative transformation of the room, including wallpaper installation, colour selection, surface preparation and the final furniture finish.
🌸 The wallpaper, featuring a soft dusty pink background with delicate off-white floral details, became the starting point for the entire design scheme. To create a harmonious look, I recommended an off-white furniture colour that echoed the floral pattern rather than competing with it. A bright white would have felt too stark, while this softer shade brought warmth and elegance to the room.
🎨 The bespoke MDF wardrobe and matching chest of drawers were carefully prepared using specialist primers, undercoats and premium furniture paint. Between coats, the surfaces were lightly sanded to achieve an exceptionally smooth finish.
✨ Together with the clients, we chose an Eggshell finish – elegant, durable and beautifully balanced, offering a subtle sheen without excessive shine.
🖌️ The wardrobe presented a particular challenge due to its detailed panelled design. The numerous grooves, edges and recessed sections required a combination of fine artist brushes and high-quality mini rollers to achieve a flawless finish without brush marks, roller texture or paint runs.
🔨 Every joint, gap and imperfection between the MDF sections was carefully filled, refined and sanded before painting, helping the furniture appear as one seamless, professionally manufactured piece.
🏡 What makes this project especially satisfying is seeing how all the individual elements came together. The new wallpaper, carefully selected colour palette and freshly finished furniture completely transformed the atmosphere of the room. The space feels lighter, softer, more elegant and far more personal than before.
💗 I believe the finished room became a lovely surprise for its owner and a perfect example of how thoughtful decorating can completely change the feeling of a space without replacing everything in it.

Hi Everyone 😊

I’ve been reading quite a few posts on some local community groups lately where people explain that times are hard, everything is expensive, and that’s why they’re looking for things as cheap as possible – sometimes even for free 💭
And I understand that. Truly.
But here’s the part that often gets missed…
That same situation applies to us – tradespeople.
So when I see posts asking for a “good, reliable decorator” but also “cheap” or “lowest price possible” – it’s actually coming from the exact same place: rising costs and financial pressure.
The difference is – we’re on the other side of that equation.
We also pay bills.
We also deal with increasing costs.
We also support our households.
So while people are trying to save money, we are trying to survive and run our businesses at the same time.
Please remember – we are people too 🙏
Many of us have spent years building our skills, investing in tools, learning proper techniques and delivering quality work.
And some of us (myself included) genuinely care.
When I work in someone’s home, I treat it as if it were my own 🏡
Of course, everyone has the right to compare prices and choose what works for them 👍
But very often I see people choosing the cheapest option… and later being disappointed with the result.
My honest advice?
Choose someone who has passion for what they do ❤️
Because that’s what brings care, detail and long-lasting results.
Also worth remembering:
Self-employed tradespeople don’t have sick pay, holiday pay or guaranteed income.
If we don’t work – we don’t get paid.
On top of that, a lot of our time goes into:
– quotes 📝
– sourcing materials 🛒
– planning & organising jobs 📅
…and most of that is unpaid.
A decorator isn’t just someone who “rolls paint on the wall and leaves” 🎨
There’s preparation, experience and responsibility behind every job.
I believe my prices are fair and reflect the quality I deliver – especially after fixing work done by others.
