This week marked the close of one chapter for Wan Djawad at Durham Lifting, and the beginning of another.

Wan has been an asset to the business over the years, bringing a great deal of engineering knowledge and experience to the team and playing an important role across some fantastic projects along the way.

His expertise and contribution have been valued, not only by the team at Durham Lifting, but across the projects and customers he has supported.

While his time in the business has now changed, it certainly isn’t goodbye. We’re pleased that Wan will continue to work closely with Durham Lifting going forward, and we look forward to continuing that relationship.

A big thank you from all of us at Durham Lifting for everything you’ve contributed over the years, Wan. We wish you every success with what comes next and look forward to working together in a new capacity.

A look behind the scenes at our Newton Aycliffe Sales & Hire branch.

From wire rope slings and rigging equipment to safety equipment and lifting accessories, the team here supports customers with both sales and hire requirements across a wide range of lifting applications.

It’s also a key hub for stock, collections and deliveries, with the team on hand to help with product queries, availability and finding the right equipment for the job.

The project is taking shape.

Following the successful delivery of four 34-tonne Multi-Point Spreader Beams to our customer in Kansas City, USA, a further 10 bespoke beams are now progressing through manufacture here in the UK.

Paul and Amanda were carrying out an inspection ahead of the next stage of production, with the beams ready to be sprayed in the distinctive MultiSec pink.

Once complete, each beam will undergo the required testing and final inspections before making its journey across the Atlantic.

Durham Lifting is proud to be supporting the next chapter at Pallion Shipyard in .

Following decades of downtime, our Service Division has worked with Colin Ainsley and the team to help bring two existing cranes back into operational condition, carrying out servicing, maintenance and remedial work, alongside supplying additional lifting equipment for the site.

The project also has a personal connection for our Director, Amanda Gardiner, as Pallion was the location of her very first site visit at the beginning of her career.

Returning years later and seeing industry back inside the building makes this one particularly special.

We’re proud to play a part and wish Colin and the Pallion team every success as activity at the site continues to develop.

Behind our Service Division is a team that understands the importance of being there when our customers need us.

As Service Manager, Samuel Gardiner works closely with customers across crane support, servicing, maintenance and wider lifting equipment requirements.

As Samuel puts it: “We’re not just selling equipment, we’re building relationships through trust, service and support.”

That approach is a big part of how our Service Division operates. It’s about understanding the customer, responding when support is needed and helping keep their lifting equipment safe, reliable and operational.

For Samuel and the wider team, the relationship does not end once the equipment is supplied. It is about being there throughout its working life.

This is an opportunity to work on bespoke engineered lifting equipment used across the UK and internationally, supporting projects in offshore wind, heavy industry, defence, manufacturing and civil engineering.

Some places hold more than machinery. They hold decades of engineering history.

This week we welcomed David Bruce back to Britannia Test House, a place he regularly visited in the 1970s while working in the steel industry. More than 50 years later, he returned, this time with his grandson, to see how the facility has evolved.

Today, Britannia Test House supports customers with proof load testing and lifting solutions across a wide range of industries, but it was fascinating to share how the site has grown while continuing to play such an important role in British engineering.

David’s grandson is currently completing a college photography project exploring how traditional industrial sites have changed over time. His visit captured the contrast between the building’s rich heritage and the modern equipment and testing capabilities that keep the Test House moving forward.

It was a pleasure to welcome them both and to share a small part of the story that continues to be written here every day.
