A small maintenance call-out in Dundee today 🔧

The heater in a valve chamber had failed, so we replaced it before the temperatures start to drop.

Not every job is a big installation, but these smaller maintenance jobs matter just as much. Getting them sorted early helps avoid bigger problems when the cold weather arrives.

Winter preparation starts before the temperatures drop 🛠️

Today, Power Tech attended a large distribution centre in Haydock on behalf of a facilities management company for a service visit to the sprinkler pump house.

We checked that the pump house electrics were operating correctly and carried out pre-winter checks on the trace heating and thermal insulation protecting the sprinkler tank pipework.

It’s easy to overlook these systems during the warmer months, but they have an important job to do when colder weather arrives. Trace heating provides frost protection and temperature maintenance, while effective thermal insulation helps retain heat and reduce heat loss.

Checking their condition ahead of winter gives facilities teams the opportunity to address any issues before freezing temperatures put the pipework at risk.

For us, maintenance is about paying attention to the details and helping customers keep essential systems ready when they’re needed.

Another installation completed at a distribution centre in Derbyshire.

We’ve installed trace heating, thermal insulation and aluminium cladding to the sprinkler tank pipework. The trace heating helps protect the pipework from freezing, while the insulation and cladding help retain heat and protect the installation from the weather.

A small electrical installation at a distribution centre in Livingston today ⚡

We installed a local switch for the fuel transfer pump, giving engineers manual control when transferring diesel from the storage tank to the fire pump equipment.

It’s a straightforward addition, but one that makes the system easier for the site team to operate.
