Chris Waller is our latest employee to obtain a new qualification, recently achieving his NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Works Supervision.

Chris has worked for the company for 24 years, joining the company originally as an experienced roofer and for the last 19 years working as a contracts manager.

Chris has supervised many varied and interesting projects over the last 19 years on behalf of the company and always ensures the work is completed safely and to the highest standards.

This year marks a very special anniversary for R A Sidebottom Roofing Contractors Ltd as we celebrate 30 years of trading.

The company was started in 1995 by Richard Sidebottom who retired a couple of years ago. We have gone from strength to strength over the years and have completed many varied and interesting projects.

As a company we have trained lots of apprentices, 4 have qualified in just the last 2 years, this is something we are very proud of and intend to continue doing.

So, this year we look back on 30 years of roofing work and look forward to many more years to come.

As roofing contractors experienced in all current Building Regulations and Heritage certified, we specialise in heritage & council houses re-roofing needs.

Well done to Richard Eblet on passing his apprenticeship and becoming our latest qualified roof Slater & Tiler.
Richard follows in the footsteps of his older brother, Jamie, who qualified with us back in 2020 and remains a valued member of our roofing team.

‼📣 The results of a recent online survey conducted by On The Tools and SIG Roofing in partnership with SKCIN is making the spotlight in industry news. Here’s just a few of the alarming results that underscore the immediate need for our Sun Safe Workplaces training and accreditation programme to reduce skin cancer cases.

☀ 95% of roofers reported repeated sunburn due to working outdoors.

☀ 63% confirmed that they never, rarely or only sometimes use sunscreen.

☀ 60% admitted intentionally exposing unprotected skin to get a sun tan.

☀ 28% stated that using sunscreen took too much effort.

☀ 45% of those who do use sunscreen, only do so on hot, sunny days.

☀ 48% are unaware of how to check their skin for signs and symptoms of skin cancer.

‼ This is why SKCIN are passionate about educating outdoor workers on the prevention and early detection of skin cancer and providing employers with all the tools and resources they need to effectively address UV exposure as a serious occupational hazard.

🧡 Our partnership with SIG Roofing who have signed up to raise awareness at scale through their 100+ branch network is raising the roof on sun safety and skin cancer across the industry!
