S**t job alert!
So, I got called out to look at a job which sounded easy, just tiling the existing chamber.
Once i got there I noticed the fire surround, looks nice doesn't it.
But its not compatible with a wood burner. Not only that, there wasn't enough air gap around the stove for it to work properly.
This was done by a HETAS registered firm so they should have known better.
Once I got there I took off the surround to reveal more s**te!!
Huge gaps between the chamber boards which were stuck on with three blobs of glue onto thin strip of board.
So not really stuck to anything.
So if you're new here and looking around for a stove installer and someone says that they can do an install in a day, this is the s**t that you're paying for.
They cut corners, they rush, they take your money and rinse and repeat for the rest of the week.
Anyhow, reboarded this chamber (properly) then tiled and plastered.
I'll be going back to fit the beam once the plaster has dried, which most installers don't do either. They'll fit your £200 beam to wet plaster.
Sorry for the sweary post but when I see s**t work, I'll call it out to educate.
