So after 16 years of running Mochan Engineering, it is time to close the brand. A new company has been created and all customers will be automatically transferred to the new setup.
I am very proud to have been self employed for so many years in what must be the most difficult climate for engineering we have seen in a generation.

Going forward, I would like to introduce to you:

Taliesin Engineering LTD.

Here's to a new chapter and new opportunities.

Thank you all for your continued custom and support.

These are the three new 3D printers bought with the kind public donations made to Paul Barsi's amazing 'patio gigs' charity drive.

They have been assembled, calibrated and are currently producing 1,000 Agatha clips per day, now in different colours.

We're still doing our utmost to get our Agatha clips into the official NHS supply chain, so that workers on the front line are as comfortable and as safe as possible - but they are understandably overwhelmed right now. We continue our efforts to achieve this.

The work of people like Paul and the kindness of the public seen all over the country shows how cherished our NHS is, even if it needs a bit of extra help at this time. Let's make sure, when all this is done, that it's fully-funded and that its staff are always well-paid, well looked-after and totally safe at work.

In the meantime, we're supplying these clips totally free to those who need them. Just send us a direct message or email us [email protected]. Remember to include your postal address.

We're still sending ‘agatha clips’ out to hospitals and ramping up production as fast as we can.

In this video, Geraint, a porter for the , tells us how the Agatha Clip keeps him safe and comfortable at work.

Please share ths video, or tag people who you know work in healthcare.
We'll get some clips to them.

A huge shout out to Paul Barsi, who’s been raising money to supply PPE to the NHS frontline by playing online gigs from his patio at home.

Paul has given us £800 to help with the cost of manufacturing our ‘agatha clips’ - which make the wearing of surgical masks more comfortable and secure.

He has currently raised over £5,000!

This crisis is undoubtedly showing the world who the good people are: Paul is certainly one of them. Thank you! ✊

We've now sent over 3,000 'Agatha Clips' to hospitals to help carers be more comfortable.

When they come off the 3D printer, they immediately go for an ultra-sonic bath, before being sealed in plastic bags.

This gives us the confidence that these clips arrive clean and sterile.

We've designed and manufactured the 'Agatha Clip' to replace the knitted clips that were being used as ear defenders by nurses and other NHS staff.

Grab a cup of tea, and spend a few minutes watching our 3D printer at work. It’s mesmerising!

A big thank you to Anthony Leonard Titchy for dropping off this roll of filament (the 'ink' for a 3D printer) to us.

It will allow us to make another 800 'Agatha' clips - this is the clip we've designed and manufactured to replace knitted clips that nurses were using as ear defenders when wearing surgical masks.

We are still on the hunt for 3D printers!

*** WE NEED MORE 3D PRINTERS ***

Hi everyone. You'll be seeing more updates from us here now, as we now have a dedicated person looking after social media and other stuff: Gareth is focusing on the manufacture of Surgical Mask Clips.

We call it 'The Agatha Clip' (Agatha is the patron saint of nurses)

These are designed to replace the knitted versions that nurses have been using to protect their ears from abrasive elastic.

Some hospitals have banned these because they don't meet hygiene standards (difficult to clean). Our solution is simple - a clip made from compostable plastic.

We've currently supplied hundreds of these to hospitals that have requested them, both locally and in England: with more requests coming in fast.

*** WHAT WE NEED ***

To cope with demand, we need another 3D printer, or several! The one we have can only make 460 clips a day running at full tilt.

If you have a 3D printer we would love to borrow it, It doesn't matter what make or manufacturer it is, as long as its in working condition and can use 1.75mm PLA filament- we want it!

We are currently in talks with NHS procurement to try and get these clips to the front line ASAP, but there is a lead time of 4-5 weeks on a new 3D printer.

Please share this and help us make the job of NHS staff on the front line as comfortable as possible.

If you can help: leave a comment and we'll be in touch.

Surgical mask ear protectors:

We have been asked to help find a solution to the problem that nurses on the front line are having with the mask straps cutting/ injuring the backs of their ears.

There are some knitted straps with buttons that some people have been using.
Unfortunately, due to the rules in infection control some hospitals have stopped nurses using these.

We have designed a plastic clip that is single use. It is made from a plant based plastic called PLA which will break down and compost in in industrial composters.

The design is currently on version 4, and the plastic has been reduced to just 0.79 grams .

I have 2 3D printers working around the clock. I will post the files shortly so that you can download them, and print too. Ill try and do different formats to suit different printers. Any questions, please inbox and we'll try to answer as quickly as possible.
