This is how we brace a turning post where the angle is less than 90°, avoiding the need for a strut sticking out into the field.

For this setup, we use:

• 150–175mm × 2.4m strainer post
• 150–175mm × 2.1m support post, driven approximately 1.8m into the ground

Running a strut in line with the fence can create lift on the turning post. Over time, this can cause the post to move and the fence wire to become slack.

Removing old rotted off post make it so much easier to break and remove old concrete/postcrete.

Engine crane comes in very useful for this job 💪.

We use 4x 300mm coach screws drilled at different angles in the hope they bite enough into some good timber.

This little trailer made last minute for a job we couldn’t use the tractor and solo netter due to tight access.

This has made life so much easier unrolling all types of netting. Carrying 500m of Tornado Wire UK & Ireland Ltd R8/80/22 with ease.

Netters are a game changer but sometimes going back to basics works aswell. 👌

A rotten gate post replaced and the gate rehung for a new customer. We reused all the existing ironwork where possible, helping to keep the cost down while leaving everything secure and working properly again.

I also have to say a big thank you to the customer, the invoice was sent before I left and it was paid before I’d even made it back to the yard! It’s always greatly appreciated.

It won’t be long before we’re back out laying hedges for the 2026/27 season .

Another run of stock fencing completed. 🌾🐑

The recent dry weather has certainly made things challenging. The ground is like concrete, so every strainer and turner has to be augered first before we can install it properly. We’re even having fill with water and let it soak into the hole before driving the posts to reduce the risk of blowing the tops out.

It takes longer, but we won’t cut corners. Taking the extra time ensures the posts are installed correctly and the fence is built to last.
