🌳 Windblown Sycamore Removal – Ribble Valley 🌳

Complete removal of this windblown sycamore in the Ribble Valley after structural failure caused by extensive Ganoderma decay and weak codominant stems. With advanced decay throughout the butt and main stem union, failure was only a matter of time before the tree eventually came down.

The fallen tree was dismantled and cleared using a tractor and trailer for the timber, while all brash and chip was processed directly into the back of a van. The stump was then fully removed using a PTO-mounted stump grinder, leaving the site completely cleared.

A textbook example of how fungal decay and codominant stem formation can combine to create major structural weakness in mature trees.

The strong winds across the North West are a good reminder of how important tree maintenance and inspections can be.

High winds often expose weak limbs, decay pockets and structural issues that may not be obvious during normal conditions. After storms is one of the most common times we are called out to deal with failed branches and damaged trees.

If you have any concerns about trees on your property following the storm, we are happy to offer advice, inspections and any necessary remedial work.

Planting works carried out this morning for a valued client, installing a Betula pendula and Acer campestre to replace a declining mature European Ash previously removed due to Ash Dieback.

We always encourage replanting to maintain the amenity value of a landscape while contributing to a more diverse and resilient ecosystem.

Both trees were installed with double stakes and ties to support strong root establishment, finished with a mulch layer to help retain moisture and suppress competing vegetation. Looking forward to seeing these establish and thrive in the coming years.
