🌿 WE’RE HIRING – SHOP & CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSISTANT 🌿

Come and join our team at Hardwood Logs & Supplies!

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Shop & Customer Service Assistant to join us at Holly Grange Farm in Lea, near Matlock.

This is a varied, customer-facing role within our busy, family-run business, where no two days are quite the same!

You’ll be helping customers in the shop, taking orders, dealing with enquiries and working alongside the rest of our team to keep everything running smoothly.

🌿 WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Welcoming and serving customers in our shop
• Taking payments and processing customer orders
• Answering telephone calls and customer enquiries
• Assisting with customer collections
• Keeping the shop tidy, organised and well stocked
• Helping with general administration when required
• Working closely with our office and yard teams

For us, finding the right person is just as important as finding someone with experience.

We’re looking for somebody who is:

✅ Friendly, approachable and enjoys dealing with people
✅ Reliable, organised and takes pride in their work
✅ Confident communicating with customers
✅ Happy working independently and using their initiative
✅ A genuine team player with a positive attitude
✅ Willing to get involved and help wherever needed

Previous retail or customer service experience would be an advantage, but the right attitude, personality and willingness to learn are just as important to us.

💷 PAY & WORKING HOURS

💰 £13.00–£14.50 per hour, depending on experience

🕘 Winter working hours:
Monday–Friday: 9am–5pm
Saturdays: 9am–4pm (on a rota)

🌿 WE’RE HIRING — ACCOUNTS & OFFICE MANAGER 🌿

We’re looking for an experienced, organised and proactive Accounts & Office Manager to join our team at Hardwood Logs & Supplies in Lea, Matlock.

This is a varied and important role at the heart of our day-to-day business, combining accounts and Sage, customer service, telephone and web order processing, delivery coordination and general office administration.

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities, keep things organised and accurate, and confidently manage a varied workload.

But experience is only part of what we’re looking for.

Being friendly, approachable and a genuine team player is a must. We’re a close-working team where everyone helps each other, so having a positive attitude, communicating well and being willing to get involved when needed are really important to us.

The role will include:
• Day-to-day accounts using Sage
• Purchase & sales ledger
• Supplier invoices and payments
• Customer invoicing
• Banking & bank reconciliation
• VAT administration
• Credit control & customer accounts
• Answering telephone calls & customer enquiries
• Taking & processing telephone orders
• Managing & processing website orders
• Customer emails & online enquiries
• Booking & coordinating collections and deliveries
• Liaising with our external accountant
• General office administration
• Supporting the wider team when required

💷 £30,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience
📍 Holly Grange Farm, Lea, Matlock, DE4 5RA
💼 Full-time | Permanent

☀️ Seasonal working hours

Weekdays:
April–August: 9am–3pm
September–March: 9am–5pm

Saturdays:
April–September: 9am–12pm
October–March: 9am–4pm

Saturdays are shared between the team on a rota, currently approximately 1 in 3, with a weekday off when a Saturday is worked.

Previous practical accounts experience is important and Sage experience is highly desirable. AAT or another relevant accounting qualification would be advantageous, but for us, practical experience, the right attitude and being the right fit for our team are equally important.
