A POLITE MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP ATTACKING MY INBOX…
Can we please stop?
This appears to be a recent development on Facebook Messenger, but unfortunately I’ve been putting up with the same nonsense in my emails for years.
Thankfully, most of the email rubbish has the decency to go straight into spam, where it belongs. Messenger, however, seems to have decided that my inbox is now the digital equivalent of a bloke standing on my doorstep every morning trying to sell me double glazing.
I’m not interested in:
🔹 SEO
🔹 A new website
🔹 Social media management
🔹 Lead generation
🔹 Business coaching
🔹 Marketing packages
🔹 Or a sh*t-ton of five-star reviews from people I’ve never done any work for.
I’m particularly not interested in being told that my business desperately needs improving by someone who has found me, messaged me and then proceeded to tell me how difficult it is to find me.
You literally just found me.
The irony is that I’m actually struggling to get through the genuine messages and emails from people wanting actual plumbing work, so having to sift through another “exciting opportunity” every day is becoming seriously annoying.
So, if you’re reading this and thinking:
“I’ll message him. I’ve got a fantastic opportunity that could revolutionise his business…”
No. You haven’t.
And if you’re thinking “I’ll just try anyway” — congratulations, you’ve successfully identified yourself as the exact person this post is about.
I appreciate everyone has a business to run and I’ve got absolutely nothing against people trying to sell their services.
But if I need SEO, a new website, 400 reviews, a marketing strategy or someone to explain to me that Google is quite important, I promise you… I’ll ask.
Until then, please leave my inbox alone so I can concentrate on the thing I actually do for a living.
Plumbing.
Thanks.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a genuine customer message to find underneath 14 people offering to make my business “explode”.
