A new chapter for The Old Dairy Estate in Crouch End.

We were appointed by Friern Manor Dairy Farms to carry out a major Cat A refurbishment across four commercial units, transforming ageing accommodation into modern, compliant and energy-efficient space while retaining the character of this historic estate.

The scope was extensive and included:

✅ structural and fabric improvements
✅ new windows and roofing
✅ upgraded M&E
✅ improved insulation
✅ new kitchens and WCs
✅ upgrades to the residential accommodation above

The finished scheme provides high-quality space ready for new occupiers, with improved EPC performance and stronger tenant appeal and feedback from our client was brilliant:

is a good time to think about what happens to all the furniture and materials when an office is refurbished, because a refurbishment doesn't have to mean starting from scratch.

We’ve worked on projects where existing furniture has been reused as part of the new scheme, rather than just replacing everything.

This can mean:

♻️ Keeping furniture that’s still in good condition
♻️ Reusing pieces in different areas of the office
♻️ Combining existing furniture with new items

Good workplace design should consider what you already have, what can be reused and where new investment will make a difference.

A refurbishment can give your office a completely new feel without everything in it needing to be new.

The Form team had a fantastic day volunteering with Chiltern Rangers last week.

The students at local school, Alfriston, have been working with the Chiltern Rangers Team over the past couple of years to develop wildlife areas throughout the school. These include a meadow, orchard, hedgerows and a wildflower and tree nursery.

To help these areas to continue to thrive, the school needs extra help from the local community - and we were delighted to get stuck in.

We were working for the day to get everything accessible for the start of school after all of the growth in the holidays - we reckon we did a pretty good job!

It's always good to get out of the office and do something worthwhile for the day and Chiltern Rangers are brilliant to work.
