For those who want a garden to be productive as well as attractive, the vegetable garden is often relegated to the far end of the plot. But this town garden was designed to allow flowers and vegetables to grow side by side in raised beds adjacent to the man sitting area, with the furthest end then becoming a small woodland garden.

It probably won't have escaped your notice that we're well into snowdrop season at the moment, and now is a great time to plant them, as you plant them 'in the green', i.e. with their leaves and even flowers on. Most garden centres, even market stalls and some florists, are selling them at the moment ( and throughout February) in bundles - highly recommended for an inexpensive bit of winter cheer!:) - check out http://www.belinda-goldsmith.co.uk/snowdrops-a-prelude-to-spring/
