"Made in Britain" businesses should be supported, not squeezed.

I visited EverEdge in Market Drayton to discuss the impact of new steel quotas and tariffs on their family business manufacturing steel garden and landscape products. Rising costs for specialist imported steel are making UK production more expensive, despite those materials not being available from domestic suppliers.

EverEdge's concerns are shared by manufacturers across the country, who warn that increasing costs for British producers - while allowing cheaper imported finished goods to compete - risks undermining jobs, investment and growth in the UK's manufacturing sector.

I will be pushing ministers to change the rules - the Government must ensure its steel strategy works for the whole industry, not just one part of it. British manufacturers need a level playing field that protects jobs, supports growth and makes it easier, not harder, to manufacture in the UK, and in North Shropshire.

Today we unveil our first garden Association of Professional Landscapers of the year, 'Umbrellas', designed by Dave Hodson (davehodsongardens) and built by (jglandscaping).🌿✨

Celebrating 10 years of the APL Avenue at (18–21 June, The Nation's Experience Capital) we’re proud to welcome back designers and landscapers who have previously brought their creativity to the show.

Garden inspiration can come from anywhere. ‘Umbrellas’ is a love letter to cult French film ‘The Umbrellas of Cherbourg’. The 1964 New Wave bittersweet operatic classic featured one of the most ebullient colour palettes in cinema in both its interior and exterior set design.

This colour is recreated in entrances, two garden rooms and a canopy of umbrellas. The planting design is balanced to reflect both the romantic and practical realistic narrative of the film.
