A striking example of container planting at Audley End House and Gardens

The rich palette of orange, red and purple creates impact, while repetition through the terracotta pots brings cohesion and rhythm to the display.

A beautiful reminder of how thoughtful planting design can enhance even the most historic of settings.

We enjoyed a lovely summer day out here with the kids too — a great place to combine things they enjoy with a little garden inspiration for me! 🌸☀️

Heatwave + hosepipe ban? Time to evict the kids from the paddling pool…

Sorry kids, the plants have claimed it first! 🌿💦

If your pots are looking a bit sorry for themselves, fill the paddling pool with a few inches of water and stand your pots in it.

They’ll soak up exactly what they need from the bottom, giving them a lovely long drink without wasting water.

It’s water-wise, plant-friendly… and let’s be honest, the petunias are probably quieter than the children anyway!

A few well-placed pots can completely transform a seating area.

These large dahlia filled containers bring the garden right up to the patio, creating a colourful, wildlife friendly space to relax with a morning coffee, lunch or evening drink.

Simple touches like this make a garden feel immersive, beautiful and full of life.

It’s always a pleasure to return to this beautiful garden for a tidy-up and see how it’s evolving. 🍃

Over the years we’ve added more colour, filled in the gaps and watched it grow into a space that’s full of life.

At this time of year, the roses, agapanthus, lavender and grasses are looking their absolute best. 🌼

Best of all, it’s buzzing with bees - exactly as it should be! 🐝

Summer colour at its finest! 🌸☀️

Here are just a few of the seasonal pots I’ve created for clients this summer. Filled with vibrant petunias, trailing verbena and beautiful geraniums, they’re designed to bring months of colour and enjoyment.

A little reminder: keep them well watered and feed them regularly, and they’ll reward you with stunning blooms from May right through to October.

If you’d love colourful, low-maintenance pots for your own home, get in touch – I’d be happy to help! 🌿

It’s June… so why am I hiding from the rain? ☔🌹

I’m having my lunch break in my clients’ greenhouse which is set within their beautiful rose garden.

The weather this year has been a real reminder of how much our climate is changing. We seem to be swinging between intense heatwaves and excessive rainfall, sometimes all within the same month.

Many plants and flowers are blooming earlier than usual as temperatures rise, creating new challenges and opportunities in the garden.

As frustrating as the rain can be when you’re working outdoors, our gardens and farmers desperately need it after such a prolonged dry spell.

So for now, I’m embracing the pause, listening to the rain and appreciating this stunning rose garden from a slightly drier spot.

What’s the weather been like where you are?

Looking for plants for a shady corner? 🌿

Ferns, foxgloves, and hostas make a perfect combination.

Together they create a beautiful mix of textures, heights, and colours, ideal for a woodland-inspired garden. Just keep an eye on your hostas, as slugs love them! 🐌

Otherwise, this planting combination is a winner for adding interest and structure to shady spaces.

If you have a small garden, growing plants in pots is a wonderful idea 🌿

Although they need regular watering, containers can create a beautiful, high-impact display of colour by packing plants closely together for maximum effect. 🌼

I’ve done this in my own garden using a mix of evergreen and deciduous perennials and shrubs, including Philadelphus, Viburnum opulus, Rosa, Delphinium, Hylotelephium (formerly Sedum), Geranium, Paeonia, Verbena bonariensis, Alchemilla mollis, Echinacea, Nepeta, Digitalis and Hydrangea. The result is layers of colour, texture and interest throughout the seasons — proof that even a small space can feel full and vibrant 🌸

There’s something special about a traditional English country garden herbaceous border at this time of year 🌿

I look after this garden every week, carrying out regular maintenance throughout the seasons, and moments like this make all the hard work worth it. Turning up to a view like this for the day never gets old.

Packed with gladioli, delphiniums, roses, foxgloves, peonies, alliums and geraniums, it’s looking an absolute picture right now 🌸
