On to the next season 🌱🧡

I have boxes and boxes of bulbs waiting to be planted! I always choose my bulbs carefully — I like something a little different from the usual garden centre varieties. Lots of special tulips, alliums and narcissi to look forward to in spring🌷
So it looks like I’ll be planting in the rain this week! 🌧️

I’ve also been busy over summer drying lots of flowers from the field. These will be used in wreaths and some will be saved for my Christmas Wreath Workshop — which is coming around quick! 💚🌲

As my flower season comes to a close, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has bought flowers from Maud's Garden this spring and summer.
It’s been busy and I’ve loved growing for you all.

More than just flowers, this little field is my small way of trying to help nature.
As we all see, insects and wildlife are struggling in this environment where their homes and habitats are being destroyed without a thought for them and the wider consequences.
Food sources are scarce, and so much is poisoned with plastics and pollution.

No flowers I hand over have ever been contaminated with chemicals.
In my small flower field, every little bee that has collected pollen is safe. 🐝
Every insect and bird helps me, and I help them. 💚

I’m already sowing and planning for next year - got to keep the bees, butterflies and birds happy - my priority 😊 🐛 🦋

Keep an eye out for what comes next 🍃

Flowers from this date in 2023 — what a good flower year that was!

Flowers were obviously still going strong, my little glass posy vases were bursting ready for an event.

It always amazes me how different each growing year is, but 2023 really was a good one.

October seed sowing for cut flowers 🌱

Did you know it’s a perfect time of year to start growing some seedlings for next years season?

Sow now, leave in a greenhouse or even on a windowsill.
Don’t let them dry out — just a minimum amount of water needed — and next year you’ll have a real head start on blooms!

Here are a few of what I’m growing for cut flowers next year:

Cornflowers — purple, black & blue
Corncockle
Snapdragons
Scabious
Ammi
Penny cress
Nigella

Also this week I’ll be sowing sweet peas!
