🔨 NO REAR ACCESS. NO PROBLEM.

This Bristol rear extension presented a real challenge from day one—there was no vehicle access to the back of the property.

Every piece of material had to be carried in through the house, and every bit of rubble carried back out the same way.

The family remained living at the property throughout the build, so we created a temporary kitchenette and carefully protected the access route to help keep everyday life as normal as possible.

From strip-out, foundations and structural steelwork through to the new roof, underfloor heating, screeding and finished open-plan kitchen diner, the Skookum team managed the entire project from start to finish.

The family told us they were nervous before the work began. Eighteen months later, this is what they had to say:

ANOTHER SKOOKUM TRANSFORMATION 🏡🔨

A return visit for this lovely family in Bromley Heath, Bristol — this time for a substantial wrap-around extension and complete ground-floor transformation.

The works included a new wrap-around extension, major structural alterations, a new open-plan kitchen and dining area, partial garage conversion, new downstairs shower room, rooflights, new windows and doors, plus new flooring throughout the ground floor.

WHAT A TRANSFORMATION! 🔨🏡✨

This was far more than just a new kitchen — a complete transformation of the ground floor, opening up the property to create a fantastic kitchen, dining and living space while carefully retaining the original character of the home.

From the structural alterations and steelwork through to the kitchen, herringbone brick flooring, oak detailing, restored stained glass, period features and final finishes — Skookum managed the transformation from start to finish.

We absolutely love the finished result. The combination of the original Victorian features with the new open-plan layout has completely changed the way this home looks and feels.

A great transformation from one of our completed projects in Bristol.

This loft conversion involved stripping the existing roof right back and creating the new structure using a purpose-designed lightweight steel framing system — forming the new floor, roof and dormer structure.
