🚨 A nice little (but potentially dangerous) find in Sherwood today! 🚨

While carrying out an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) at a property in Sherwood, Nottingham, I discovered that the incoming mains supply cable was effectively holding itself up!

The fixings had completely deteriorated due to damp in the basement, leaving the incoming supply unsecured. Over time, this can put unnecessary strain on the electrical service cable and create a potentially dangerous situation.

This equipment belongs to the Distribution Network Operator (DNO), so it’s not something electricians are permitted to repair. I made a quick call to the DNO, and they arranged an emergency visit within a couple of hours to make the installation safe—completely free of charge for the homeowner.

✅ If your incoming supply cable or service head looks loose, damaged, or unsupported, don’t ignore it. Contact your DNO as soon as possible, as they’ll usually inspect and repair it at no cost.
