Energy bills are going up again. And winter hasn't even started yet.

The energy price cap rose 13% in July. Now from 1st October it's going up again, driven by ongoing instability in global energy markets that isn't going away any time soon.

Here's the thing though. The price cap limits what you're charged per unit, not your total bill. So how much you actually pay this winter still comes down to how efficiently your home runs.

A boiler that hasn't been serviced is working harder than it needs to. Radiators that aren't heating evenly are wasting energy on every cycle. Pressure that's been a bit low for months means your system is fighting itself.

None of it feels urgent in September. All of it feels very urgent in November when the engineer can't come out for three weeks.

A Crapper fit for a king. 👑

Now there's a sentence we don't write every day.

For those who don't know, Thomas Crapper & Co () have been making some of the finest bathroom fittings in Britain since 1861. Four Royal Warrants to their name, a heritage stretching back to Victorian England, and a reputation for quality that has genuinely stood the test of time. They're the Rolls Royce of toilets.
.. and yes, the name really is where the slang comes from. American soldiers stationed in England during World War One kept seeing the Crapper brand on cisterns and took the term home with them. You're welcome, America. 🇺🇸

For plumbing geeks like us, getting to install one of these is a genuine pleasure. The craftsmanship is something else, solid brass fittings, traditional Victorian design, built to last another 160 years.

Not every job is a Thomas Crapper. But when it is, we make sure to take our time 😉

One of our own is heading to Dublin!
