If you had your garage back this weekend, which would it be: a proper home gym, or the ultimate man cave? 🏋

Here's the honest truth: DIY epoxy kits can work beautifully on small, dry, crack-free surfaces. If your concrete is in great shape and you only need a few years out of it, roll it on and enjoy.

Where it goes wrong is what the kit doesn't include. No moisture testing. No proper crack repair. No industrial-grade primer to lock everything to the substrate. That's why some DIY floors start lifting, bubbling, or peeling within 18 months. The coating wasn't the problem. The prep underneath was.

That £79 garage floor kit at the store promises the same glossy finish you see in our project photos. We get the callback 12-18 months later when it starts peeling.

The label doesn't tell you what's actually in the tin. DIY kits are 20% solids water-based epoxy. The other 80% evaporates as it cures, leaving a thin film sitting on top of your concrete.

Ours is 100% solids commercial-grade resin. Nothing evaporates. Every drop bonds to the floor.

But the real difference happens before any resin gets poured. Diamond grinding to open the concrete pores. Moisture testing so the coating actually adheres. Crack repair so the surface stays sound underneath.

The gloss you see at year five didn't come from the top coat. It came from the prep nobody photographs.
