Calling all wood burners - with great sadness we are having to move yards in a few weeks after 16 years. We still have quite a bit of really well seasoned hardwood logs and a lot of milled hardwood planks to sell before we go. I understand that firewood is probably the last thing on your minds at this time of year but if you need your stores replenishing it's going to have to be now as we will have no fully seasoned logs to sell this autumn/winter. We will hopefully have a new yard by the middle of June where we can process more firewood for the coming years. We will sell what we have left now at a discounted rate of £150/m3 in the hope that you can all help us get it shifted quickly. Please let me know this week if you would like a delivery over the next few weeks to ensure you're prepped for autumn.

Pruning a cherry tree in Chorlton. The tree had a lot of crossing and congested branches after a very heavy previous prune. We reduced its height and selectively thinned out the branches to restore its goblet shape.

Crown reduction and thin of this oak in Heald Green to prevent the tree getting too big and taking all the light from the neighbouring gardens. By carefully selecting which branches to remove and which ones to cut back to suitable secondary branches we were able to maintain a nice natural shape to the remaining crown.

LOADS OF CHEAP FIREWOOD!!!
We are taking down a couple of sycamores tomorrow in the Withington/West Didsbury area. We will have 2 or 3 loads of nice rounds ready for splitting and stacking under cover. Should be good to burn next winter. 2m3 for £150. Please message me if you are interested and can take a delivery in the afternoon.

Back to the garden in Bramhall. A big willow tree cracked and fell into the river and across the public footpath on the other side during storm Claudia. Floodwater made it too dangerous to tackle for a week until the levels were back to normal. We managed to get vehicular access to the footpath with coorporation from Stockport Council. We cordoned off a safe work area and got our waders on whilst Carlos set up a climbing anchor in the top of a nearby Alder and made his way out onto the tree to begin dismantling it so we could fish bits out of the river with pull lines and grappling hooks. After a good day's sploshing about we had the river unblocked and the tree made safe.
