We thinned out the crown of this hornbeam taking out any rubbing and crossing branches and cutting back the lateral branches over the neighbour's side. This allowed more air and light to pass through the canopy making it feel less imposing.

WOOD BURNERS/BODGERS
We are taking down a large oak tree in Chorlton next week. The tree has partially collapsed and it's now clear that the rest of the tree needs to be pollarded to 10 feet to make it safe and mitigate the risk of more stems crashing down and hitting property before the Autumn winds get started.
There will be a lot of timber coming from the job - most of it needs to be cut into short logs to be able to extract it.
We will be selling it for £160/load (around 2m3) free local delivery if we can tip off the back.

WOOD BURNERS
We are taking down an ash tree in Fallowfield on Wednesday and will have some nice logs to sell fresh off the job. We will cut the trunk into 10" rounds and leave the thick branches in 3-4 foot lengths If you are fairly local and want a delivery on Wednesday afternoon please get in touch. I think it will be around 2m3-3m3 so £160-£240

Nice little birch crown reduction in West Timperley. The tree was blocking a lot of light into the back garden. We reduced the height, trimmed the sides back and thinned out the remaining canopy to allow more light through and around the tree.

Calling all wood burners - with great sadness we are having to move yards in a few weeks after 16 years. We still have quite a bit of really well seasoned hardwood logs and a lot of milled hardwood planks to sell before we go. I understand that firewood is probably the last thing on your minds at this time of year but if you need your stores replenishing it's going to have to be now as we will have no fully seasoned logs to sell this autumn/winter. We will hopefully have a new yard by the middle of June where we can process more firewood for the coming years. We will sell what we have left now at a discounted rate of £150/m3 in the hope that you can all help us get it shifted quickly. Please let me know this week if you would like a delivery over the next few weeks to ensure you're prepped for autumn.

Pruning a cherry tree in Chorlton. The tree had a lot of crossing and congested branches after a very heavy previous prune. We reduced its height and selectively thinned out the branches to restore its goblet shape.

Crown reduction and thin of this oak in Heald Green to prevent the tree getting too big and taking all the light from the neighbouring gardens. By carefully selecting which branches to remove and which ones to cut back to suitable secondary branches we were able to maintain a nice natural shape to the remaining crown.

LOADS OF CHEAP FIREWOOD!!!
We are taking down a couple of sycamores tomorrow in the Withington/West Didsbury area. We will have 2 or 3 loads of nice rounds ready for splitting and stacking under cover. Should be good to burn next winter. 2m3 for £150. Please message me if you are interested and can take a delivery in the afternoon.

Back to the garden in Bramhall. A big willow tree cracked and fell into the river and across the public footpath on the other side during storm Claudia. Floodwater made it too dangerous to tackle for a week until the levels were back to normal. We managed to get vehicular access to the footpath with coorporation from Stockport Council. We cordoned off a safe work area and got our waders on whilst Carlos set up a climbing anchor in the top of a nearby Alder and made his way out onto the tree to begin dismantling it so we could fish bits out of the river with pull lines and grappling hooks. After a good day's sploshing about we had the river unblocked and the tree made safe.
