🏃🏅 Well done to Bethell Great Manchester Run participants!

On Sunday 31 May, 27 of our colleagues got together to tackle the Great Manchester Run, one of the most highly anticipated running events of the year, representing Bethell across both the 10K and half marathon distances.

👟 Bethell funded entry for all participants, as part of our initative to promote health and wellbeing across our business.

The commitment, determination, and team spirit shown by everyone was great to see!

⭐ Preparations are underway for next year's Great Manchester Run, where we will aim to go above and beyond the £87,000 we raised for charity in 2025.

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part, you’ve done Bethell proud! 💙

🚶🚴 What is a sparrow crossing?

This newly installed crossing in Levenshulme by Bethell, on behalf of Manchester City Council, provides a safe crossing point for cyclists and pedestrians over the busy A6 road.

🚦 Sparrow crossings such as these enable a protected cycle track to cross a road parallel to a pedestrian crossing.

Bethell re-constructed the footway and carriageway and installed new ducting, drainage, kerbs, surfacing, traffic signals, street furniture, road markings, signage and landscaping.

👍 As a result, it protects all road users whilst reducing the crossing distance for journeys by foot or wheel.

💪 These pictures showcase the Takeuchi TB20e, an electric mini excavator, getting to work at a recent demonstration hosted by both Takeuchi UK & D&J Machinery!

With zero emissions and low noise operation, this excavator is perfect for environmentally sensitive areas without compromising on productivity.

🌿 The Bethell team were thoroughly impressed by the kit's performance, as the business aspires towards electrifying as much of our plant and machinery as possible & reducing carbon output throughout our activities.

👍 Making health & safety excellence routine at Manchester Airport.

This month's BAM UK & Ireland Operative of the Month award was presented to Groundworker Kevin Devonport, who is part of the Bethell operations team delivering the MAG Northgate Gatehouse project!

🛫 Bethell is working on behalf of principal contractor BAM to deliver a new security gatehouse at Manchester Airport, including associated offices and welfare to meet the airport's operational needs.

Kevin was recognised for his continual commitment to completing site operations in a consistently safe manner.

🏅 This is the third award that has been presented to Bethell by BAM for demonstrating the high safety standards at Bethell!

✨ How a new bridge restored a long-missing link in Radcliffe…

This month, Bethell celebrated the opening of the brand-new £3.2m Milltown Street Bridge, alongside representatives from Bury Council, Bee Network and pupils from Star Academy Radcliffe.

🛡️ The design of the new single-span bridge eliminates the need for in-river supports and is placed at a higher elevation above the river, improving flood resilience and reducing the risk of future damage.

While the weather was a bit damp, the mood among those in attendance was jubilant, with everyone pleased to see a vital transport connection open to the public once again!

⭐ The opening of the bridge marks a significant step forward to improving connectivity, encouraging greener travel, and complementing wider regeneration across the Radcliffe area.

What does it take to power the future of EV charging?

The answer starts with the right infrastructure.

In partnership with RAW Charging, Bethell completed a full turnkey electrical installation at a Landsec hub site to support increased EV charging demand.

Our team completed:

• New 1000kVA substation
• 1600A LV Panel
• 5 x 22kW AC chargers
• 2 x 50kW DC chargers
• 6 x 150kW DC chargers

From essential power infrastructure to rapid charging points, this project is another step towards cleaner, more accessible transport networks.
