Job Summary
R Styles PAT Service is an established business with a large focus on quality and customer service. We provide a portable appliance testing service to business of all shapes and sizes. PAT testing is the inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances, ensuring they are safe to be used. This role is ideal for a friendly individual with excellent people skills who enjoys working in very varied environments and meeting new people every day. The position would be suited to someone who favours independence whilst working and would enjoy field-based work. The job entails visiting business premises’ mostly within a 50 mile radius of Malvern, and sometimes further afield to test portable appliances for electrical safety after receiving full training from ourselves and external sources.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
-To complete a period of fully assisted testing provided by an experienced PAT engineer. If the applicant displays the level of competence required to meet our high company standards, the applicant will complete a further probationary period before continuing into a permanent position. The employee will receive an investment of further external training resulting in PAT testing qualification
-To represent us in a positive way by maintaining a high quality relationship with each valued client visited whilst taking pride in the work carried out
-To drive using your own vehicle to various types of businesses (fuel expenses will be reimbursed)
-To work in various different environments including; offices, shops, science laboratories, churches, factories, workshops, garages and residential rented properties
-To operate test equipment and perform visual checks of portable appliances within each client’s business environment, ensuring each appliance is safe to use
-To complete and submit itemised lists and corresponding paperwork as agreed
-To carry out basic repairs such as re-terminations, replacing plugs and fuses as and when necessary (after training has been given)
-To work independently in peoples workplaces with confidence when carrying out your job and working around the client in a professional manner
-To manage your own time and diary to an extent
Minimum Requirements
-A current full UK driving license (maximum of 3 points on license)
-A taxed, insured and MOT’d car of your own
-Experience in a customer facing role for a minimum of 6 months
-Colour-normal vision
-Ability to get to the Malvern office within 45 minutes
Abilities Required
-Basic electrical knowledge will be an advantage, but no prior experience in the PAT industry is required. Most important is a willingness to learn a new skill
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
-Willingness to ‘get your hands dirty’
-Great observational skills because you will sometimes be working in dangerous environments
-Problem solving
-The ability to work quickly and under pressure
-Excellent attention span
£9.00 per hour (Plus fuel expenses paid at 28 pence per mile). Other benefits include training, full uniform and pension scheme.
