Dead tree removal with a little something left behind! 🌳🪵

We recently carried out this job at Madresfield Early Years Centre’s Forest School, where a dead tree needed to be felled.

Rather than removing the whole stem, we decided to leave a section behind and turn it into a natural bench for the children to sit on.

It’s a great way to make use of the timber while keeping a little piece of the woodland there for the kids to enjoy!

Dead trees sometimes need to be removed where they pose a risk, but wherever possible, there can still be ways to make use of the timber and give it a new purpose.

Making more room around the house! 🌲🏡

We recently tackled this row of conifers that had grown right up alongside the house and were taking over the space.

We reduced them back to give the property a bit more breathing room, opening things up around the house while keeping the remaining trees in place .

As you can see from the before and after, it’s made a big difference to the space and light around the property!

A big difference on this one! 🌲🪓

We recently removed this conifer as it was blocking a lot of light from the surrounding garden and outbuildings.

With the tree gone, the space has opened right up, letting much more light into the garden and making the whole area feel brighter and more open.

It's amazing what a difference the right tree work can make!

Recently we got a willow and a sycamore down that were sandwiched in a tight boundary spot.

As you can see from the photos, they were growing right up against the fencing and the neighbour's shed roof, along with hanging over a National Grid power box. We rigged them down cleanly and left the area completely spotless. Massive difference to the light coming over that driveway and the garden now! 🪵💥

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great bank holiday weekend! ☀️

We were out recently tackling a couple of jobs in one go here. We safely removed a storm-damaged conifer that was becoming a bit of a hazard, and also did some extensive deadwooding on a large Willow tree to tidy it up and make it safe. 🪓🌳

It’s amazing how much more light has been let through, and the garden is looking much better for it!

Safe removal of a big Pine tree! 🪓🌳

This one was really starting to decline and becoming a bit of a worry for the homeowner, so we got it down safely to clear the space. We also ground out the stump so they’ve got their lawn back and don't have to worry about mowing around it anymore! 🚜🌱

Everything was left tidy and ready for the garden to be used again.

Here is a job we did a while ago that I forgot to share! 🌳✨

We carried out a natural-style reduction on this Maple. We were looking at creating:

We recently tackled two large Silver Birches that had simply outgrown their welcome. Being significantly too close to the house and the neighbour's property, they had become a real concern for the homeowner.

The Challenge: With a shed, a log store, and a brick wall surrounding the base, there was zero "drop zone." This meant rigging almost every limb and section of trunk to ensure everything landed safely in a tiny footprint.

Woodland Restoration & Selective Thinning 🌳☀️
This woodland was suffering from a closed canopy, which suppresses natural regeneration and impacts the overall health of the stand.

Recently, we've been carrying out selective thinning to improve the structural diversity of this local woodland. By removing the "suppressed" and poor-quality specimens — the majority of which were under 10cm diameter (DBH) — We are promoting the growth of the "final crop" trees and allowing light to reach the forest floor.
