β›³ Supporting a great local charity.

I recently sponsored a hole at the local golf club for the Captain's Charity Day.

When I was contacted and found out that the charity being supported was the MCA Trust, I couldn't say no!

The MCA Trust supports children with cancer and their families, providing practical and emotional support when they need it most.

It's always good to be able to support something local, especially when the money raised is going towards such an important cause.

I hope everyone had a great day and that the charity day helped raise plenty of money for the MCA Trust.

A big well done to everyone involved. πŸ‘

⚑ 3 signs your electrical installation might need attention.

Not every electrical problem is immediately obvious, but there are some warning signs worth paying attention to:

1. Lights are flickering
If lights are regularly flickering or dimming, there could be an underlying electrical issue.

2. Breakers keep tripping
If you're constantly having to reset a circuit breaker, it's worth finding out why rather than simply resetting it each time.

3. Sockets or switches are warm or discoloured
Heat, scorch marks or discolouration around sockets and switches shouldn't be ignored and should be checked by a qualified electrician.

If you've noticed any of these signs at your home or business, get in touch with Pegrum Electrical. We can investigate the problem and help get to the cause.

⚑ Why having an electrician who knows your business helps.

When you have someone who regularly looks after the electrics at your business, they get to know the site, the equipment and how everything works together.

That can make things much easier when you need work carried out or something goes wrong.

They already have an idea of what's been installed, what work has been done previously and what your business needs.

It also means you're not starting from scratch every time you need an electrician.

From regular testing and maintenance to repairs, upgrades and new installations, having someone you know and trust can make managing your electrical work that little bit easier.

At Pegrum Electrical, we enjoy building long-term relationships with businesses and becoming the electrician they know they can call when they need us.

πŸ“Ί Another 2 digital notice boards installed today.

This time, we were in Reading and London, getting both installations completed and ready to go.

Another two jobs completed and another couple of digital notice boards ready for use.

It’s been great working on these installations and seeing the finished result each time.

⚑ Not every electrical problem is obvious.

Sometimes an electrical issue will be very clear. A light stops working, a breaker keeps tripping or a socket stops working.

But other problems can be much harder to spot.

Flickering lights, unusual noises, warm sockets, equipment cutting out or an electrical fault that comes and goes can all be signs that something isn't quite right.

It can be tempting to ignore it if everything is still working, but electrical problems don't always fix themselves.

That's why proper fault finding is important. Rather than simply replacing a part or resetting a breaker, we want to find out what's actually causing the problem.

If something doesn't seem right with your electrics, get in touch with Pegrum Electrical. We can investigate the issue, find the cause and get things working safely again.

πŸ’‘ Proud teacher moment.

We've been working with our apprentice for a while now, and we felt it was time to let him take on his first solo install.

I asked him to put up an outside light in the alley and gave him no instructions. I left him to work it out for himself, and this is what he produced.

It's great to see him taking pride in his work and starting to trust his own skills. Watching someone develop and seeing them put what they've learnt into practice is one of the best parts of taking on an apprentice.

⚑ Your electrician doesn't have to be someone you only call when something goes wrong.

Having a regular electrician you know and trust can make things a lot easier, especially for businesses and commercial properties.

It means there's someone familiar with your electrical installation who can help with things like:

β€’ Regular electrical testing
β€’ Planned maintenance
β€’ Lighting and electrical upgrades
β€’ Fault finding and repairs
β€’ New installations
β€’ Emergency call-outs

It's not always about waiting for something to fail. Keeping on top of your electrics can help prevent problems and make it easier to deal with them when they do happen.

At Pegrum Electrical, we're always happy to build long-term working relationships with businesses, property managers and other contractors.

Sometimes having someone you can just pick up the phone to makes all the difference.

πŸ”Œ 3-phase EV charger installed in Colchester.

This one has a dual outlet, allowing two vehicles to charge from the same charger.

With more businesses and workplaces moving towards electric vehicles, having the right charging setup in place can make things much easier for staff, customers or company vehicles.

This 3-phase installation gives the site a practical charging solution with the capacity to charge two vehicles.

⚑ A 3-phase fuseboard installed and ready for what's next.

This installation has been set up with future plans in mind, including solar panels, an air source heat pump and an EV charger.

When you're already planning changes or additions to a property, it makes sense to consider what your electrical requirements are going to look like further down the line.

Getting the right setup in place now can make future installations much easier and avoid having to make unnecessary changes later on.

Another example of why a bit of forward planning can make a big difference when it comes to electrical installations.
