♻️ Big Green Conveyor Machine: Our Recycling Centre Just Got an Upgrade! ♻️

If you’ve been following us recently, you’ll know we’ve been working hard investing in our growing business!

New skips, new lorries and now…a new upgrade to our recycling centre.

Last week, it was all hands on deck as our new heavy-duty waste conveyor from Firstgrade Recycling Systems was installed. The whole team mucked in to get us back up and running as quickly as possible.

As our business continues to grow, so does the amount of waste we process. This new equipment will help us move, sort and process waste more efficiently, giving us more capacity and helping us recover even more recyclable material.

With the continued hot, dry weather, fire is now a very real risk at the moment. We’ve all seen wildfires, house fires, warehouse fires and fires at waste and recycling centres across the country. We’re all becoming increasingly aware of the fire risks around us…but did you know unmanaged waste can be an additional risk in these conditions?

At Morley Skips, keeping our team, customers, local community and environment safe is incredibly important. We’ve all seen the pressures being put on our amazing fire service, and we can all help support them by disposing of our waste responsibly.

🔥 5 Top Tips To Reduce Fire Risk 🔥

1️⃣ NEVER PUT BATTERIES IN GENERAL WASTE: Lithium-ion batteries can be damaged during collection or processing and ignite. This includes loose batteries and rechargeable battery packs.

2️⃣ DISPOSE OF WEEE WASTE CORRECTLY: Electrical items like vapes/e-cigarettes, phones, power tools, laptops and small electricals that contain batteries need to be disposed of correctly. If you’re unsure, ask us before putting them in your skip

3️⃣ NO HOT ITEMS: Never dispose of hot ashes, BBQ coals or anything that could still be smouldering. Make sure they’re completely cold before disposal

4️⃣ KEEP YOUR WASTE SECURE: If your skip is in a public or exposed location, consider an enclosed or lockable skip. It can help prevent unwanted waste being added and reduce the risk of deliberate or accidental fires

We’ve been meaning to share these for quite a while, but there’s been one small problem…the new skips have been far too busy out on the road helping our busy customers!

Here’s a little throwback to another delivery arriving at Morley Skips HQ; and judging by the rain (can anyone remember what rain feels like anymore?!?)…it really was rather a while ago!

Over the last few weeks and months, we’ve continued to add new skips, lorries and equipment to our growing fleet. Investing back into Morley Skips is really important to us. As we continue to get busier, we need to make sure our fleet continues to grow with us, so we can keep providing the friendly, reliable service our customers expect.

This batch included even more enclosed skips, which are proving increasingly popular with both our commercial and domestic customers.

🚜 Back in the Driver’s Seat… of the Combine!!! 🚜

Last week, we swapped skip lorries for our trusty (not quite brand new) combine and embraced our farming roots for this year’s harvest!

While farming is no longer our primary business, it’s still a huge part of who we are as a family and as a company. This year was a real family affair, with everyone mucking in to help bring our crop home.

With our own harvest now safely in the shed, we’d like to wish all our farming friends, customers and neighbours the very best for the rest of the season.
