You might know us as Barnard Environmental Ltd, but who’s actually behind the business? 👀 👋

First of all… yes, we are still here! 😂

We’ve been a little quieter than usual on social media over the summer, but there’s a very good reason — we’ve been absolutely flat out! 🐝

The warmer months have kept us incredibly busy dealing with wasps and hornets across Maidstone and throughout Kent, alongside our usual pest management, commercial contracts and environmental cleaning work.

So while we’ve not been posting as much, we’ve certainly been keeping busy behind the scenes!

👋 Meet Phil

Phil – Founder, Director & Senior Pest Management Technician.

Phil has worked in the pest management industry for over 10 years. In 2020, he decided to take the leap and start his own business, originally trading as Barnard Pest Control.

What started as a small local pest control business has continued to grow, and today Barnard Environmental Ltd provides much more than traditional pest control.

Being a family-run local business is a huge part of what makes Barnard Environmental different.

Phil believes customers should receive the same level of care and professionalism whether they’re a homeowner calling about a wasp nest or a commercial client looking for an ongoing pest management contract.

📸🎸 And when he’s not working…

When Phil isn’t dealing with pests, you’ll often find him enjoying his other interests.

📸 He’s a keen amateur photographer and loves getting out with his camera whenever he gets the chance.

🎸 He’s also a self-taught guitarist, having taught himself to play and enjoying picking up the guitar in his spare time.

It’s these little things outside of work that keep him busy when he’s not crawling into cupboards looking for rodents or dealing with wasp nests! 😂

💙 What’s next for Barnard Environmental?

The goal is simple: keep growing while never losing the personal service that got us here.

We’re continuing to develop our commercial services, expand our environmental cleaning and property recovery work, and build relationships with customers and businesses throughout Kent and the surrounding areas.

While treating a wasp nest in Maidstone, this determined little visitor decided my PPE looked like a target! Thankfully, with the correct protective equipment, professional-grade products and the right training, it was all part of the job.

Wasp nests can become extremely aggressive when disturbed, and attempting to remove one without the proper equipment can quickly lead to multiple painful stings.

👋 We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately… but that’s because we’ve been busy doing what we do best!

Just because we haven’t been posting doesn’t mean we haven’t been hard at work.

Over the last week alone, the Barnard Environmental team has:

🐝 Safely treated 24 wasp nests
🐀 Attended 12 rodent call-outs
🤝 Secured 3 new commercial contracts, with new customers stretching from Sidcup to Folkestone

We did manage to take a well-earned break on Sunday to celebrate Phil’s birthday with a family BBQ. Anyone who knows Phil will know he’s the undisputed King of the BBQ! 🍔🔥 After a busy few weeks, it was great to spend some quality time with family before getting straight back to helping our customers.

Hi, I’m Philip Barnard, Director & Senior Technician of Barnard Environmental.

Today we attended a property to carry out a survey and quotation for what can only be described as a full property recovery project.

Properties that have been neglected for long periods can present a number of challenges, including excessive waste accumulation, hygiene concerns, pest activity, structural damage and contamination that goes far beyond a standard deep clean.

In situations like this, our role is to assess the property, identify any pest control issues, evaluate contamination levels and put together a safe and practical plan to help return the property to a habitable condition.

Every property tells a story, and whilst jobs like this can seem overwhelming, with the right approach and specialist knowledge significant improvements can be achieved.

As the weather warms up, many people start noticing increased pest activity around their homes — especially ants finding their way indoors and wasps beginning to build nests 🏠

Ants are often attracted to food and moisture, while wasps will start searching for sheltered areas to establish nests ready for the summer months.

The earlier these issues are identified, the easier they are to deal with before activity increases further.
