A look back at the Kent Expo 🙌

Stephen, Thomas, and the team had a great day catching up with familiar faces and connecting with new contacts across the sector. It was fantastic to hear about upcoming projects and discuss how estates teams are approaching their M&E upgrades this year.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by our stand. If we had a conversation and you would like to follow up, get in touch with us at [email protected].

Huge congratulations to Simon Martin, our Employee of the Month for September 🙌

Managing electrical works across demanding environments like the Bank of England takes real organisation and care. Simon keeps works moving smoothly across multiple sites, adapting quickly whenever requirements change and giving our clients total confidence.

He takes genuine ownership of every project and always supports the wider team on site.

Thoroughly deserved recognition. Well done Simon, and thank you for all your hard graft.

Crane lift complete at Digital Studios, our flagship project for Baxall Construction.

Two air source heat pumps, one AHU, and the full roof mounted solar array all lifted into position today. Restricted access between the existing building and the retaining wall meant the lift plan, exclusion zones, and sequencing had to be right first time, and the team delivered it without incident.

Thanks to City Lifting for the crane and crew, and to Baxall for the coordination on site.

Plant now in position and ready for mechanical and electrical connection.

Our apprenticeship positions have been filled!

We've taken on four apprentices across plumbing and electrical. They'll be working on real projects from day one, rotating through different sectors and building hands-on competency alongside our senior engineers.

Thank you to everyone who applied. Keep an eye on our page for our next recruitment day.

We're proud to announce that we've just been accredited, completing our final IMS assessment covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

This isn't a box-ticking exercise. It's a prerequisite for direct award contracts with NHS trusts, education bodies and public sector clients who need verified, auditable standards from their contractors.

We're also progressing further environmental and sustainability accreditations alongside this, in line with the decarbonisation frameworks we're targeting.

More to follow as these are confirmed. Procurement managers and estates teams, get in touch at [email protected].

This month's Employee of the Month is Dillon Slee. 🙌

Dillon is one of our apprentice plumbers, putting in the work on site day in and day out while building his trade from the ground up. That's exactly the kind of graft and commitment we want to see coming through our apprenticeship programme.

Thank you Dillon. It's recognised and appreciated.

A Finance Manager keeps the business financially sound. The numbers, the reporting, the processes that hold everything together behind the scenes.

Michael Greer does all of that. But he didn't stop there.

On top of his core role, he's built automated systems to streamline processes across the business. AI implementation, workflow automation, finance process improvements. All self-taught. He saw gaps, learned what he needed to fill them, and got on with it.

Congratulations to Michael Greer, our Employee of the Month for July. That kind of initiative is exactly what makes Volmech the business it is. Well deserved. 👏
