🌍 Global Asbestos Awareness Week | 1–7 April
Informed decisions start with accurate surveying, at Medway Insulations Ltd our asbestos surveyors provide the essential evidence that underpins safe planning, legal compliance, and effective risk control. An asbestos surveyor plays a critical role in protecting people, properties, and projects.
Competence goes far beyond simply identifying materials, it’s about knowledge, training, and professional responsibility.
Essential Qualifications and Training of our Surveyors:
• BOHS P402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings.
• Asbestos awareness and health and safety training.
• Experience working to UKAS-accredited procedures.
Before an asbestos surveyor assesses hidden risks within a building, they must first manage their own exposure. In line with HSG 264 Asbestos: The Survey Guide, appropriate PPE and RPE may include:
• Disposable Type 5 coveralls to prevent fibre contamination.
• Suitable RPE, selected through task based risk assessment and face fit testing.
• Disposable gloves and suitable footwear or overshoes.
Through structured inspection, targeted sampling, and material assessment, the surveyor identifies asbestos containing materials that are often concealed within the building fabric.
Using a professional, competent UKAS accredited asbestos surveying company ensures:
• Surveys are carried out fully in accordance with HSG 264.
• PPE and RPE are correctly selected, worn, and managed.
• Surveyors have the training, experience, and judgement to avoid unnecessary
disturbance.
• Findings are accurate, defensible, and suitable for downstream decision making.
A qualified asbestos surveyor helps ensure compliance, reduces risk, and supports informed decisions, protecting occupants, contractors, and businesses alike.
