Some people call me picky. Some even tell me that I’m scaremongering when I tell them that storing wood too close to your stove can cause a fire.

Well. Here’s the proof. Kent Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire in Folkestone caused by wood set alight because it was stored too close to a stove.
And a picture of some wood that had been stored on top of a stove that had started to smoulder! The customer had a lucky escape!

Please store your wood well away from your stove.
