A nice find this week for a lady suffering with noises in the attic.

The first job is to confirm what we are dealing with, in this case the rat droppings made it easy to work out! Traps in place and next is the MOST IMPORTANT part of any eradication programme - find the entry point!

Time and time again I meet customers who have been suffering for years, with several pest control companies coming out, putting poison down and never actually solving the problem.

A search around the exterior walls revealed two vents that were completely open, giving rats an open pathway to the warmth and comfort of the attic. They'd even set up a little snack bar, eating the snails and leaving their shells behind!

Bespoke stainless steel mesh covers were made and fitted securely, which will stop any further ingress - and the traps will be checked in a week's time to pick off any remaining rat activity in the attic.

A thorough inspection beats a thousand traps every day of the week.

This customer has had rat issues for years and they had always come back. That's until they called MDC Environmental! A thorough search of the external walls revealed a tell tale sign of rat entry - polystyrene cavity wall insulation OUTSIDE!

A little dig out revealed the entry point, which was sealed with wire wool, stainless steel mesh and cemented over to keep the rats out for good.

Traps employed in the attic to ensure any left inside are taken care of, and this one should be wrapped up in a couple of days.

That's what we do, first time, EVERY TIME 🐀
