The second of our recently completed projects - St Annes Old Links Golf Club's new Greenkeeper’s Building and Starter’s Hut — is now complete! ⛳️

As part of the first phase of a wider site masterplan, the project involved extending the existing Greenkeeper’s work shed to create a bright, functional workshop space featuring workbenches, a vehicle lift, and a vaulted ceiling that adds a surprising sense of grandeur. A crisp white ceiling and grey floor finish elevate the space while keeping it practical and hardworking.

Alongside this, a new self-contained Starter’s Hut has been constructed at the first tee. Taking cues from the architectural language of the clubhouse, the hut brings a clear sense of arrival and enhances the course’s facilities for members and visitors alike.

What a busy end to March, with two of our projects reaching completion on site!

The first, our long-anticipated Windmill Performance and Education Centre is now open to the public for shows and events this spring. The studio theatre features a 162-seat auditorium, ticket office, bar, and new toilet facilities, alongside external public toilets and an outdoor teaching area.

Designed with both function and aesthetics in mind, the studio theatre is clad in striking Corten steel, with PV panels on the vaulted roof contributing to the sustainable credentials of the building. The low-level, oversailing roof provides a dynamic entrance point, with bold yellow-framed doors and - a special detail - window manifestation that proudly displays the names of those who generously donated to bring this project to life. Sliding doors within the auditorium create a flexible space connected to the gardens, and fit for the variety of performances and cinema screenings that Lowther Pavilion have planned.

We're thrilled to announce, that we're launching a design competition for artwork to become part of the finished design for the brand-new The Windmill Performance & Education Centre, set to open in April 2025.

This new space will be home to live music, comedy, community choirs, arts groups, youth theatres, dance projects, workshops and education classes, writing, reading sessions, cinema and more.

The winning design must be an original interpretation of the types of events and projects that will make up the programme of this space.

🏆 Prize
£750, plus your design laser cut onto the outside for the building.

Friday 31 January 2025 at 12pm.
