. . One of those behind-the-scenes parts of a project that you definitely don’t see in the finished photos!

Gable House has been going through the ecological process for months . . . surveys, reports, bats, bats and more bats . . . mitigation, additional requirements, re-consultation . . . my patience and the clients have been put through the absolute ringer, and the wait has been REAL 🫠
. . But today, we finally got the response we’ve been waiting for:

NO OBJECTION. 🙌

A small sentence on a planning document, but a very big tick off the list for us and months of back and forth finally paying off!! 🤩

One more hurdle cleared . . . now we just need that planning decision! 🤞

. . because an outdoor space that only works in July isn’t really a design solution.

As this week’s heatwave gets underway, outdoor spaces are suddenly back in focus. But an outdoor room that only works in perfect weather isn’t really a design solution.

For us, that means creating a series of outdoor rooms, each with its own purpose, atmosphere and reason to be enjoyed throughout the year.

At our Garden Studio project, that thinking shaped the wraparound terraces: an intimate sunken lounge centred around a feature fire pit and enveloped by planting that immerses you in the surrounding landscape . . .

. . alongside an outdoor dining space with a sit-up counter and kitchen designed for theatre dining.

Distinct in character, yet connected by design, these spaces create a landscape that can be enjoyed across the seasons 🤍

. . where does a home really begin? With the morning light falling across the kitchen island? Or the gable that first catches your eye from the driveway?

At STUDIOeed, we design from the inside out, ensuring every new space is not only beautifully crafted, but effortlessly functional.

We begin with the way a home is lived in: the Sunday-morning coffee spot, the boot room after a New Forest walk, the route from the kettle to the back door . . .

Only then do we let the architecture rise to meet it.

The corner oriel exists because someone wanted a place to read in the soft evening light. The wraparound terrace exists because the kitchen naturally spills onto it. The walnut joinery, steel-framed glazing and brass detailing all respond to the rhythms of daily life.

For us, good architecture isn’t imposed on a home . . . it grows from the people who live there.

So we’re curious . . .

Do you approach a home from the inside out, or the outside in? And what’s the one space in your home you couldn’t live without?

We’d love to hear your thoughts.

. . someone once told me that you should only ever hang artwork in your home that truly means something to you . . . and that mantra has stayed with me ever since.

These are mine . . . my photographs, my memories . . . bathed in light filtering through the kitchen door. They make me smile, pause and remember.

Don’t fill your walls for the sake of “design” or simply because something matches your scheme. Choose pieces that feel meaningful, impactful and unmistakably yours.

Our garden studio project has grown 🤩 Can you spot it in the background!?

Now the main house transformation begins . . . reimagining a 1950s chalet bungalow into a contemporary family home with a striking new two-storey gable end and floating corner oriel . . . because we do love a corner oriel 🤍

Our signature landscape design process really sits at the heart of this project, seamlessly connecting the reconfigured interior living spaces with the alfresco areas, carefully zoned to enhance everyday family living. From the sit-up kitchen counter flowing directly out to the outdoor dining terrace, to the sunken lounge beyond . . . every space has been designed to feel connected and effortless to use.

. . One of the biggest challenges when designing within a listed building is working respectfully around the original fabric of the space, where very little can be altered.

This bar was designed to sit quietly within its historic setting — complementing the ornate ceilings and architectural detailing through warm walnut joinery, layered lighting, rich textures and timeless materials.

3 years in the making and incredibly rewarding to finally see it brought to life.

. . from initial concept through to completion!! This bar began as a concept centred around timeless materials, warm lighting and tailored detailing . . . designed to feel both classic and considered.

From the walnut back bar to the curved timber seating and layered finishes, every element was carefully resolved to create a cohesive, inviting space.

Visiting the completed project tomorrow for the first time and I cannot wait!! Big reveal coming soon 🤩
