This veteran Oak was highlighted during a local authority survey as posing a potential danger to the highway.
Unfortunately, the majority of the upper canopy had died back, leaving only a handful of living laterals on the lower half of the tree.
Rather than opting for complete removal, the decision was made to initiate a pollard at approximately 8m. All major deadwood was removed while retaining as much viable growth as possible.
Hopefully, by reducing the tree to a safer and more manageable structure while preserving the remaining live growth, this impressive old Oak will have the opportunity to regenerate and continue standing for another 100 years. 🌳🤞🏼
