We’re pleased to have been appointed by Portable Space to provide structural design and consultancy services for ATG’s new show stand.

It’s great to see the finished stand in place and welcoming visitors at the Hillhead - International Quarrying, Construction + Recycling Show. Projects like this are a great example of what can be achieved through strong collaboration and careful engineering.

At Technicus Consulting, we believe the future of engineering starts with inspiring the next generation.

We were delighted to support the EastWind T-Level Industry Placement Programme by delivering an interactive presentation to 10 no. T-Level Electrical, Mechanical and Civil Engineering (Offshore Wind) students at OrbisEnergy, Lowestoft.

Led by our Director, Kevin Buttle, alongside Kevin Dunnett, Principal Engineer, and Issac Sajith, Graduate Structural Engineer, the session provided students with a real-world insight into the exciting and diverse opportunities available within civil, structural and offshore engineering, and the wider energy sectors.

Throughout the session, we explored:
⚙️ The differences between civil, structural and offshore engineering.
🏗️ Career pathways and the roles engineers play across the industry.
💡 The technical and professional skills that help engineers succeed.
💻 How industry-leading software including SCIA Engineer, IDEA StatiCa and Tekla Tedds supports modern engineering design.
📅 A day in the life of a structural engineer.
🌍 A selection of our residential, industrial, onshore and offshore projects that demonstrate the breadth and variety of work our team delivers.

By sharing practical experience and real project examples, we aimed to give the students a genuine understanding of what a career in engineering looks like. Their enthusiasm, thoughtful questions and engagement throughout the session were fantastic to see and highlight the exciting future ahead for our industry.

As consulting civil, structural and offshore engineers, we are passionate about developing talent, supporting our local community and helping build the skilled workforce that will drive the UK’s growing energy sector.

⚠️ 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞

Over the last few weeks, our engineers at Technicus Consulting have inspected several properties suffering from serious crack damage and structural movement.

The causes? In many cases, problems that could have been prevented through routine maintenance, including:

• Leaking or defective guttering
• Blocked or damaged drains
• Rainwater pipes discharging beside foundations
• Overflowing water butts
• Tree-related clay soil movement

Small maintenance issues can lead to major structural problems if ignored.

Most people service and MOT their cars every year — but many forget that buildings also need regular inspection and maintenance to remain safe and structurally sound.

A leaking gutter or blocked drain today could become a costly structural repair tomorrow.

Many property owners are also unaware that structural movement caused by poor maintenance, poor workmanship, and poor design is often NOT covered by their buildings insurance. These are not considered insured perils, even if your policy covers subsidence related damage.

𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗞 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀

It’s always rewarding to visit projects we’ve been involved in once they’re completed on site 👷‍♂️

We recently had the chance to visit a new depot at Needham Market, where we supported L Lynch Plant Hire & Haulage Ltd with structural design and consultancy services. The depot will play a key role in supporting operations for the Sizewell C Power Station project.

Our work included coordinating geotechnical testing and designing the hardstanding foundation slabs for:
✔️ A Zappshelter workshop for servicing heavy plant machinery
✔️ A surface-mounted Trime plant machinery wash bay (coming soon)
✔️ Fuel tanks and storage areas

The Zappshelter workshop is now installed and looking great, and with the wash bay soon to follow, the site is well on its way to becoming fully operational.

We wish the Lynch team every success with the new depot and look forward to seeing it support the Sizewell C project and beyond for years to
