Good morning,
It's come to our attention a couple of weeks ago from another decorator, that 1 of our regular customers posted some pictures of work we did on her Facebook account expressing her disappointment at the way her wallpaper dried.
We initially wasn't going to react to her as We knew she had no real reason to blame us.
HOWEVER, we noticed that this person is sharing her post again , to get as much attention as possible, and adding other little bits to it.
So now we feel it deserves the actual facts around this person's issue.
We had previously decorated this person's kitchen and downstairs toilet in her previous house , a seemingly lovely person , couldn't give enough drinks, snacks etc, waved everytime we saw her , even offered to do some desserts for my 50th birthday party.
We were then told that she was a house, could we come and quote for the whole house , room by room
We went and gave our opinion on what she wanted, which was mainly to strip all anaglypta paper from the walls and ceiling, we advised that there could possibly be a need to have these areas skimmed ( not by us but a plasterer) if the walls or ceiling were too terrible to prep,
This person said well hopefully not as it's costing a fortune , then proceeded to tell her personal financial situation and how she got the house, whilst she was dealing with the plumber too , she told us she wanted the exact same colour as the kitchen we previously did, in her other house, and also the same wallpaper as she loved her kitchen but wanted it here,
From experience we knew there was a chance the walls wouldn't be very good so explained that the wallpaper she used previously was quite thin so a textured paper might be better,
We left it with her , gave a quote for exactly what she asked for , but made her aware of the possible wall situation.
The person accepted the quote immediately after we sent it, said she was on a tight budget so just the kitchen for now, then the next room and so on,
When we turned up to do the work , we noticed that she had exactly the same paper as the other house, even after advising it wouldn't be suitable for this wall with out further prepping ( adding additional cost obviously) her exact words were , It'll be fine, yep , let's do it , go for it , it is what is it ,
All we can do is advise , then it's with the customer .
After we completed the job , we told the customer the ceiling had had some previous issues with leak marks , we applied stain blocker but if it dried patchy to let us know, the customer sent us a message a day later thanking us for a " bloody marvellous job" , I love it,
Then 5 days later , we were messaged " so how much to repaper that wall as the wall wasn't in good nick so I'll have to get different paper "
She also mentioned the patch on the ceiling and that we had missed a small strip under the radiator,
We explained that we had warned her the paper was too thin for the state of the wall , and that as she wanted no extra costs and told us to go ahead this was the result we advised about,
We said we could return in a day or so to rectify the ceiling and put the small piece of paper under the radiator as we knew they were our mistakes, but gave a second quote , at her request to remove the paper, line the walls or as we'd mentioned when she got the paper , paint the wall first , and Repaper ,
Obviously she was not happy that she had to pay again ( we gave heavy discount for the reapplying as she was going to be having the whole house eventually)
The person then proceeded with a completely different attitude towards us, indicating the high cost of moving house, plumbers , other trades for jobs etc .so felt it was our fault and we shouldn't charge,
We reminded her of all the advice we gave but ignored as she'd said " it is what it is" reminded her to let us know when we could come to do the other 2 small jobs, but instead was told of her posting complete lies on her wall
So ....... obviously this person was willing to tell her convenient side of things , not naming and shaming" apparently, but we felt we needed to come forward and let people that have seen her post , know it was us and make people aware that it was not at all like she explained, we don't do this job to mess things up, we do it to a standard that has thankfully kept us busy for 13 yrs and got us numerous great reviews,
We are not perfect and sometimes do slip up , but we never purposely leave a job messy or unfinished, and hopefully not with the customer unhappy.
We'd like to thank our customers for taking time to read this and hope it can put potential future customers minds at ease that we are not the rip off cowboys this person is PAINTING 🎨 🖌️ us to be .
We appreciate your time
