The newly renovated NAAFI Building at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is now open to the public!

GRS were proud to carry out the full electrical installation on this historic WW1 building for Rodden and Cooper Ltd. Originally relocated from RAF Manby in the 1980s, the building has now been fully inspected, repaired, and expanded to include upgraded office space, a modern kitchen, warm toilets, and a new function room.

A mirror-image extension has also been constructed, replacing the old 1990s lean-to extensions and bringing the NAAFI fully up to modern standards — all while keeping the classic RAF heritage theme intact.

Our works included distribution, lighting, small power, intruder alarm systems, and disabled toilet alarms, carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the original character of the building.

A fantastic project to be part of 👏✈️

GRS has successfully completed the electrical installation works for the newly constructed Sixth Form Block at William Farr School in Welton, working for Lindum Group.

This modern extension provides a dedicated space for post-16 students, featuring enhanced study facilities, a recreational area, kitchen, office spaces, and toilets. The development plays a vital role in supporting the school’s growing sixth form provision and expanding its course offerings, which are crucial to meeting the educational needs of this rapidly developing village.

The new facility is situated on the western edge of the campus, on a triangular plot bordered by a footpath, the staff car park, and existing school buildings.

The GRS Electrical installation scope of works included:
• Electrical Distribution & Power
• Internal and External Lighting
• Fire Alarm System
• Structured Data Cabling
• Intruder Alarm

GRS has commenced work on the construction of a new Healing Scout Hut for Topcon Construction. This project follows the successful acquisition of over £730,000 in government funding by the 1st Healing Scout Group, which provides youth services in Grimsby and Cleethorpes for children aged six to 14. The grant, awarded through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport’s Youth Investment Fund, is enabling the development of the new facility.

The existing hut will be demolished to make way for the new building, which will feature a range of amenities, including a traverse climbing wall, an indoor archery range, and a large educational kitchen designed to support the development of cooking skills. The new facility will also include a more spacious main hall and a sensory garden.

Sustainable features, such as LED lighting and enhanced insulation, will be incorporated to replace the outdated building, which had become damp and unsuitable for its intended use.

GRS is responsible for installing comprehensive electrical services, including distribution, containment, small power, lighting, fire alarms, and intruder alarms.

GRS has successfully completed the New Manufacturing Room project at Teledyne e2v's Firth Road site in Lincoln. Acting as the main contractor, GRS ensured the project’s timely delivery despite the schedule being accelerated by three weeks and additional extras added to the scope. Production in the new facility commenced on 2nd December, ahead of the initial programme completion date.

GRS initially had to clear the site of a lathe and milling machine, which were relocated to a local plastic recycling facility. Additionally, the electrical supply and small power were isolated to a secure room to facilitate the dismantling, relocation, and reassembly of the equipment by Merrits of Nottingham. The machines were then reinstalled in another part of the site and rewired. These preparatory steps were completed prior to commencing work on the new manufacturing room.

Dennis & Marwood completed the building and joinery work, constructing the new 10m x 10m x 3.7m Room, utilising Adam Smith for Decoration, MBA Flooring for Vinyl Flooring and Skirting, and Trufix for the new 2.4M New 600 x 600 Suspended Ceiling. The Air Conditioning installation was by Lynx AC.

Electrical work by GRS included New Sub Mains, Small Power, Lighting, AC Supply, Data Installation, Specialised Earthing Points for Electronic Component Installation/Construction and Ventilation.

This project is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our engineers and subcontractors, achieving a high-quality finish under challenging timelines.

GRS recently undertook the 're-illumination' project at St James' Church in Louth, working on the installation of Ansell Smart LED lighting across Ground, Mid, and Tower/Top Levels of the historic church.

The collaboration with Ansell’s design team focused meticulously on achieving the optimal wattages and beam angles to highlight the nationally acclaimed fifteenth-century architecture with precision. This attention to detail allowed for a stunning light spread that enhances the visibility of the church's architectural features throughout Louth.

The project utilizes projector lights at each level, powered by Ansell’s Octo lighting system. These fully RGBW lights are controlled through dusk-to-dawn timers and can display preset colours to commemorate special events and charity causes. This setup lets the church adapt its illumination based on the occasion, for instance, using pink lighting for the Louth Run for Life in June and purple lighting in October for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness and Rotary Polio campaigns.

GRS is proud to have contributed to a project of such significance, supporting the legacy and adaptability of St James' Church for future generations. We would like to thank the individuals that helped successfully bring this project to fruition.

We are happy to announce that our contract manager, Mark ‘Buzz’ Bee, has recently participated in the ‘Louth 24Hr Challenge Walk’, raising money for Cancer Research UK. The event tied in with the Louth Run for Life on the 30th of June and involved walking, and occasionally running, the Louth Run for Life 5km route for 24 hours non-stop before joining the runners competing in this year’s event for the final 5km.

Mark covered an impressive distance of 40 miles before unfortunately suffering an knee injury forcing him to withdraw, a valiant effort nevertheless!

Mark took on this challenging feat with the support of local friends Stacey Whitworth from Polypipe Civils, Ronnie Wilkinson & Ollie Wilkinson from MRW Services Ltd and Mark Stones from Lindsey Marsh Drainage Board. Together, they raised a fantastic £863.75 for Cancer Research UK, contributing to the fight against cancer.

GRS would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Mark and his friends on this incredible achievement for such a worthy cause.
