Future-Proofing the Past: An Invitation to Get Involved
Friday 16 October 2026 | 13:00–16:30 | Barbican Creative Hub, Lincoln
How can we use Lincolnshire’s past to help shape its future?
The University of Lincoln is developing Future-Proofing the Past, an ambitious project exploring how Lincolnshire’s heritage, landscapes, communities and stories can support the future growth of the region’s creative industries.
On Friday 16 October, we’re bringing together people from across Lincolnshire at the Barbican Creative Hub to share ideas, make connections and help shape the project.
We want to hear from people working with the county’s heritage, culture, landscapes, places and communities. This might include heritage and cultural organisations, museums and attractions, artists and creative businesses, tourism organisations, community groups, local historians, storytellers, and others with ideas about how Lincolnshire’s extraordinary heritage could be experienced, interpreted and developed in new ways.
The afternoon will feature short contributions from people working across the county, alongside plenty of opportunity for conversation about what already exists, what is missing, and what we might create together.

Welcome to the team!

We’re excited to welcome the newest member of the LCSP team, Laura, who joins us as our Species Recovery Officer!

Swapping the marine environments that featured in her previous research for freshwater, Laura will be bringing her expertise to continue our Crystal Moss Animal recovery project, working alongside the University of Nottingham and The Deep.

Thanks to funding from the Natural England Species Recovery Programme, we can continue this exciting research! 🧬🔍

As the mornings start to get darker and the evenings continue to draw in, there is more chance that traffic will meet with wild animals crossing the roads, particularly in rural areas of Lincolnshire.

So some tips to remember:
- If you see one animal, be prepared for more - especially deer.
- Watch along hedgerows for animals that might be looking for a break in the hedge line to cross the road
- Look out for your headlights being reflected in their eyes - an early warning of their presence
- Be prepared for a vehicle ahead of you to brake suddenly - they may have spotted an animal that you haven't
- If you hit an animal, pull over when safe to do so, and ensure your vehicle is safe to continue its journey.
