Another rewire underway today over in Swithland ⚡️

We’ve already completed the first fix for the loft conversion, and today we’re moving onto rewiring the ground floor.

Unfortunately, the existing wiring has started to deteriorate and is showing signs of green goo, which is something we come across quite often in older installations.

With new flooring due to go down upstairs, now is the ideal time to get the old cables replaced before everything gets covered back up.

A busy day getting the new cables in and bringing the installation up to standard! 🔧⚡️

A few issues we came across during a recent EICR inspection.

The downlights were all still working, but once we started removing them for inspection, we found signs of overheating, damaged cables and burnt-out connections.

Some of the damage was quite concerning, especially considering everything appeared to be working normally before we started the inspection.

Just goes to show that because something is working doesn't always mean it's safe!

Something a little different for Elliott’s Electrical Services this week!

We were recently called out by a landlord to investigate the electrical installation at a property that had previously been used as a cannabis grow house.

Unfortunately, properties used for this purpose can be left with dangerous electrical alterations, including unauthorised wiring, overloaded circuits and potentially unsafe connections.

Our visit was to investigate the condition of the electrical installation and identify any potential safety concerns before the property could be brought back into use.

⚠️ Electrical safety should never be overlooked, particularly where installations may have been tampered with or altered without proper certification.

At Elliott’s Electrical Services, we work closely with landlords, letting agents and property managers across Leicestershire, providing electrical inspections, fault finding, remedial works and ongoing compliance services.

Another industrial installation completed by Elliott’s Electrical Services! 🔧

We recently carried out electrical works at a local factory, installing additional three-phase power supplies to accommodate the customer’s machinery and equipment.

Works included:

✅ Installation of a new three-phase distribution board

✅ Multiple 32A three-phase industrial socket outlets

✅ Individual RCD protection for industrial sockets

✅ Additional 13A socket outlets

✅ New cable containment and wiring throughout the workshop

A recent consumer unit upgrade completed at a local HMO property, replacing the older unit with a new Hager metal consumer unit.

The new installation includes:

✅ Individual RCBO protection for each circuit

✅ Surge Protection Device (SPD)

✅ Hager AFDD protection on selected circuits

✅ Updated circuit identification and labelling

⚡ ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE OPPORTUNITY – LOUGHBOROUGH ⚡

I’m looking at taking on an Electrical Apprentice to join Elliott’s Electrical Services and wanted to put a post out to see who may be interested.

We’re a small electrical company based in Loughborough carrying out a good mixture of work across Leicestershire, including:

⚡ Domestic & commercial electrical work
🏠 EICRs & landlord compliance work
🔥 Fire alarm & emergency lighting systems
🔨 Renovations & refurbishments
🔧 Fault finding, maintenance & general electrical work

I’m looking for someone who is reliable, keen to learn and genuinely wants to become an electrician. Experience isn't expected – attitude and willingness to learn are much more important.

Ideally you’ll be local to Loughborough or the surrounding area and either looking to start an electrical apprenticeship or currently studying electrical installation and looking for an employer.

You’ll be working alongside me day-to-day, getting proper hands-on experience across a wide range of electrical work while working towards becoming a qualified electrician.

A driving licence isn't essential to begin with, but would obviously be beneficial.

Electrical works completed as part of this bagel shop fit-out, ready for them to get open and serving.

Really enjoying getting involved with more commercial projects like this alongside our regular maintenance and compliance work.

8-Bed Refurb Complete ⚡️🏠

Another project wrapped up! We’ve completed the electrical works as part of this 8-bedroom property refurbishment, taking it from first fix right through to the finished installation.

A good amount of work has gone into this one, including new wiring, lighting, sockets and accessories throughout, ready for the property to go back into use.

We work alongside landlords, letting agents and refurbishment contractors across Leicestershire, providing everything from full electrical installations to ongoing testing, maintenance and compliance.
