How long could the closest fire door to you actually hold back smoke? 🕒

A single missing seal or loose hinge can completely fail you in a fire.

Watch to see the 6 parts keeping smoke and flames contained:

• Door closers: Ensure it shuts securely.
• Fire-rated frames: Core structural support.
• Signage: Clear safety information.
• Glazing: Fire-resistant visibility.
• Hinges & locks: Secure operation.
• Intumescent seals: Expand in heat to block smoke.

This Fire Prevention Week, we are highlighting how these passive safety measures work together to protect lives and property.

🔥 What could be the impact if a fire started in your building?

As part of Fire Prevention Week, we're taking a closer look at the impact a fire can have, from damage to the building itself to the wider risks for people, property and safe evacuation.

Fire, heat and smoke can affect more than the area where a fire begins. Without effective fire prevention and protection measures, the consequences can extend throughout a building and make safe evacuation more difficult.

👉Swipe through to discover the impact of a fire on a unprotected building and how it can spread.
