This recent installation included 20 Jinko 470W solar panels, giving the property a 9.4kWp solar PV system, paired with an AlphaESS SMILE-G3 8kW hybrid inverter and 9.6kWh battery storage.

𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐑? 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐌𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐔𝐒 𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀 “𝐆𝟗𝟗 𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍”.

But what actually is it?

For certain Solar PV and battery storage installations, approval is required from the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) before the system can be connected to the electricity network.

This is where G99 comes in.

A G99 application provides the DNO with technical information about the proposed system, allowing them to assess how it will interact with the local electricity network.
Sounds technical? It can be, but it’s not something our customers need to navigate themselves.

When we design your Solar PV and battery storage system, we’ll establish what connection requirements apply and take care of the relevant technical process as part of the installation.

Because installing solar isn’t simply about putting panels on a roof. It’s about designing a system that works properly for your property, your energy requirements and the electricity network.

CAN YOU POINT YOUR CCTV ANYWHERE YOU LIKE? 👀📹

Not quite.

If you have CCTV at home, where your cameras are pointing matters.

If your cameras capture beyond your property boundary (perhaps part of the street, a neighbour’s property or a shared area) data protection rules can apply.

That doesn’t automatically mean you can’t have the camera there, but there are responsibilities to consider.

📹 Only capture what you actually need
🏠 Consider other people’s privacy
🪧 Make people aware CCTV is in use where required
🔒 Keep recorded footage secure
🗑️ Manage and delete recordings appropriately

Where possible, the ICO recommends positioning home CCTV so it only captures your own property.

It’s one more reason why a CCTV installation should be properly thought through, rather than simply putting cameras wherever they’re easiest to fit.
