Accoya is the timber we build most of our sash windows from.
It starts as sustainably grown softwood and goes through a process called acetylation, which changes the structure of the wood so it no longer readily absorbs moisture.
That one change matters more than it sounds. Timber that doesn't take on water doesn't swell in winter or shrink back in summer — so the sashes keep sliding, the joints stay closed, and paint holds far longer because the surface underneath isn't moving beneath it.
It carries a 50-year above-ground warranty from the manufacturer, and takes a hand-painted finish beautifully.
Bespoke Accoya sash windows, made and fitted across London.
