The new kitchen within our completed residential project in Westminster London.

Alterations within the property included opening up an existing wall, creating a new open-plan kitchen and living space.

The kitchen includes back painted glass cabinets and a Dekton work surface with breakfast bar. Lighting fixtures by Hadeland Glassverk.

Floorplan showing the new layout of Openeight's residential fit out project in Westminster London.

Following a lateral conversion of two properties, the apartment is arranged in two halves. Living, dining and kitchen spaces in one half, and bedrooms, bathrooms, dressing room and study located within the second half.

The new layout was created along with the installation of new flooring, internal joinery, windows and electrical and lighting layouts.

A large ground floor extension allows part of the existing property to be opened up, creating a large, bright, double height space containing kitchen, dining and living spaces.

A simple palette of materials is to be used throughout the property with matching timber kitchen, doors, windows and internal joinery.

Often working within existing buildings and structures, we often find ourselves making use of small and underutilised spaces.

In Openeight's completed residential house in Notting Hill, we transformed a small coal vault underneath the pavement into an ensuite shower room.

The limited space available lead us to specify a combined basin and toilet. Water from the basin helps flush the toilet saving on water usage, while the vaulted shower doubles as a steam room.

The vaulted ceiling is ideal for a steam room, as steam is circulated evenly, while water condensation is directed down the ceiling to the walls, minimising any uncomfortable drips.

The first phase of Openeight's residential project in Covent Garden is now complete, including this lovely third floor reading room.

The scheme combines existing properties into a single residential dwelling arranged over four floors in the heart of London's West End.

With works to the roof now complete, restoration of the St Paul's Bothy is nearing completion and we look forward to sharing some photos soon.

Openeight Architects are currently working on a number of exciting conservation projects, it's great seeing these significant structures at risk being restored and saved from further deterioration. More to follow soon....
