London & Home Counties Safes

London & Home County Safes was founded in the late 1980's by David Harvey and Sandy Victor. Their experience and depth of knowledge, combined with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service, has helped to make London & Home County Safes one of the foremost Safe companies in the United Kingdom. It all began in the early 1980’s when David and Sandy were two young chaps working together as Safe Engineers for two different companies in Central London. During their lunch breaks they used to imagine what it would be like to join forces and start their own Safe & Lock Company. Years passed, David and Sandy continued installing and maintaining security safes for clients in London and the South East of England. They increased their experience, expertise and knowledge base. They married their respective partners, and started families. By this time they had risen through the ranks in their respective companies and were both managing teams of engineers. One day in 1989 David called Sandy and said “I have just placed a deposit on a shop in London. We've served our time; hand in your notice, it’s happening”. On that day Totteridge & Whetstone Locksmiths was born. From day one, security safes was a key element of the business and eventually evolved into a separate entity called London & Home County Safes. David and Sandy's partnership has endured and they still own and operate the business, although it is somewhat larger than those early fledgling days. Today, they operate throughout London and the Home Counties, supplying and professionally installing security safes for customers in their homes and businesses. Eurograde 1 Keylocking Safe Installed in Harlow, Essex

We recently supplied and professionally installed a De Raat DRS Prisma Grade 1 Size 4 Keylocking Safe for a customer in Harlow, Essex CM17.

The customer wanted a substantial insurance-rated safe with a traditional key lock rather than a digital keypad, with an under-stairs cupboard providing a discreet and practical location.

This Eurograde 1 safe is independently certified to EN 1143-1 Grade 1 and has recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables. It weighs approximately 106kg and provides around 109 litres of internal storage.

The cupboard had a solid concrete floor, providing an excellent structural fixing point.

Our installer drilled the concrete and secured the safe directly through its base using one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt, tying the safe firmly into the fabric of the building rather than relying on the surrounding cupboard joinery.

The customer also chose a small Flame Retardant Wallet for documents and valuables, together with a rechargeable USB Automatic Magnetic Safe Light — particularly useful inside an under-stairs cupboard.

The safe is fitted with an EN 1300 Class B double-bitted key lock and supplied with two keys.

Once installation was complete, our installer demonstrated how to operate the lock, handed over the keys and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

S2 Rated Digital Safe Installed in Ingatestone, Essex

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 Digital Safe for a customer in Ingatestone, Essex CM4.

The customer wanted a larger digital safe with plenty of internal space for household valuables, while keeping it discreetly out of the main rooms. An under-stairs cupboard provided an excellent location.

The Bloomsbury 40K Size 5 weighs approximately 72kg and provides a generous 85 litres of internal storage with two removable shelves. It has recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.

This particular position gave us both a solid wall behind the safe and a concrete floor beneath it, allowing all eight factory fixing points to be used.

Four heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts were installed through the rear of the safe and directly into the wall, providing four structural fixings to the fabric of the building.

A further four expanding anchor bolts were then installed through the base of the safe and directly into the concrete floor.

That gave this installation eight structural fixing points in total — four into the wall and four into the concrete floor — securing the safe firmly in two directions.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad, including the emergency override and external battery features, and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

Eurograde 1 Digital Safe Installed in Margate, Kent

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Securikey Euro Grade 1 1015N Digital Safe for a customer in Margate, Kent CT9.

The customer wanted an insurance-rated digital safe for cash, jewellery and other valuables, with the first-floor back bedroom chosen as the preferred location.

This compact Eurograde 1 safe is independently certified to EN 1143-1 Security Grade 1 and has recommended insurance ratings of £10,000 for cash and £100,000 for valuables. It weighs 55kg and provides approximately 17 litres of internal storage with an adjustable removable shelf.

The bedroom had solid brickwork behind the chosen position, giving us an excellent structural fixing point.

Our installer drilled into the brick wall and secured the safe through its rear fixing point using one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt, providing the principal structural fixing directly into the fabric of the building.

An additional fixing was then made through the base of the safe using a coach bolt into the timber floorboard below.

This meant the safe was secured in two directions — structurally into the brick wall at the rear, with an additional base fixing into the wooden floor.

Once installation was complete, we showed the customer how to programme and operate the six-digit digital keypad. The customer then set their own personal code, so it was known only to them from the outset. Before leaving, our installer provided a certificate of installation.

S2 Rated Digital Safe Installed in Harrow, London

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Bloomsbury 40K Size 2 Digital Safe for a customer in Harrow, London HA2.

The customer wanted a compact insurance-rated safe that could be discreetly concealed inside an existing bedroom wardrobe.

The Bloomsbury 40K Size 2 is independently attack tested and certified to EN 14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. It weighs approximately 35.5kg and provides around 31 litres of internal storage with a removable shelf.

This installation required some careful carpentry. The existing skirting board at the rear and a horizontal wardrobe panel at the front left the safe just a few millimetres short of the space it needed.

Our installer carefully trimmed both the relevant section of skirting and the wardrobe panel, allowing the safe to sit properly back into the available space rather than being pushed unnecessarily forward.

All four pre-drilled rear fixing points were then used, with four heavy-duty cavity fixings securing the safe through the back of the wardrobe and into the wall.

A further four coach screws were fitted through the safe’s base and into the wooden wardrobe floor, giving eight fixing points in total.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad, showed the customer how to use the emergency override keys, and provided a certificate of installation.

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 3E Digital Safe for a customer in Romford, Greater London RM7.

The customer wanted enough secure space for jewellery, watches, cash, passports and other household valuables, while keeping the safe discreetly concealed inside an existing bedroom cupboard.

The Torino Size 3E is independently attack tested and certified to EN 14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. It provides approximately 47 litres of internal storage with a removable shelf.

Before fixing the safe, our installer carefully trimmed the skirting board behind it. This allowed the safe to sit much closer to the brick wall and made better use of the available cupboard depth.

Once positioned, all four of the safe’s rear fixing points were used. Four heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts were installed directly into the brick wall behind, providing four structural fixings to the fabric of the building.

The safe also fitted neatly beneath the existing wooden shelf support at the back of the cupboard, making very efficient use of the available space.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

Eurograde 2 Digital Safe Installed in West Hampstead, North West London

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Chubbsafes Grade II Digital Safe for a customer in West Hampstead, North West London NW6.

The customer wanted a high-security digital safe for cash, jewellery and other valuables, but the available space was tucked discreetly away inside an eaves cupboard.

This compact Eurograde 2 safe is independently tested and certified by ECB-S to EN 1143-1 Grade II, with recommended insurance ratings of £17,500 for cash and £175,000 for jewellery.

Despite its relatively small footprint, it weighs approximately 73kg and provides around 14 litres of internal storage with an adjustable shelf.

The eaves cupboard had solid brickwork directly behind the proposed position, providing an excellent structural fixing point.

Our installer drilled into the brickwork and secured the safe through its rear fixing point using one heavy-duty expanding anchor bolt, giving the safe a direct structural fixing to the fabric of the building.

The finished installation kept the safe discreetly concealed while still leaving plenty of room to access the keypad and door comfortably.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to programme and operate the EN 1300 Class B electronic lock and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 3E Digital Safe for a customer in Warminster, Wiltshire BA12.

The customer wanted a digital safe with enough room for jewellery, watches, cash, passports, important documents and other household valuables, while keeping it discreetly out of sight. A study cupboard provided an excellent installation position.

The Torino Size 3E provides approximately 47 litres of internal storage with a removable shelf and has recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables.

The cupboard had a solid wall behind it and a substantial wooden base, allowing us to use both the rear and base factory fixing points.

All four rear fixing holes were used, with four heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts installed through the back of the safe, through the cupboard panel and directly into the wall behind. These provided the main structural fixings.

We then used all four base fixing points, securing the safe to the timber cupboard base with four coach screws.

This gave the installation eight fixing points in total — four structural wall anchors and four additional base fixings — keeping the safe firmly positioned while neatly concealed within the study cupboard.

Once installation was complete, we cleaned the working area, demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad, and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

S2 Rated Digital Safe Installed in St Albans, Hertfordshire

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Safes Torino S2 Size 2E Digital Safe for a customer in St Albans, Hertfordshire AL1.

The customer wanted a compact digital safe for household valuables, discreetly positioned out of sight. A cupboard beneath the stairs provided a practical location, but the raised front edge of the cupboard created an installation challenge.

The Torino Size 2E is independently attack tested and certified to EN 14450 S2, with recommended insurance ratings of £4,000 for cash and £40,000 for valuables. It weighs approximately 35.5kg and provides around 31 litres of internal storage.

If the safe had simply been placed on the cupboard floor, the door would have caught on the raised lip and would not have opened fully.

To solve this, our installer created a 50mm raised platform using two 25mm MDF packers beneath the safe. This allowed the safe door to clear the cupboard edge and open properly.

All four rear fixing points were then secured to the wall using heavy-duty expanding anchor bolts. A further four coach screws were fitted through the safe base, through the MDF packers and into the wooden floor beneath.

This gave the safe eight fixing points in total while maintaining the correct height for easy everyday use.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad, explained the emergency override keys and external battery features, cleaned the work area, and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.

Digital Fire Safe Installed in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire

We recently supplied and professionally installed a Burton Safes Firebrand Size 3 Digital Fire Safe for a customer in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire AL8.

The customer needed a fire-resistant safe for important paperwork, small valuables and everyday business items, without taking up too much space in a busy reception area.

The Burton Firebrand Size 3 provides independently tested 60-minute fire protection to EN 15659 LFS 60P and has recommended insurance ratings of £1,000 for cash or £10,000 for jewellery.

It weighs approximately 51kg and provides around 41 litres of internal storage, making it a practical size for commercial or domestic use where fire protection is an important consideration.

For this installation, the safe was positioned on a timber floor and secured through its base using a coach bolt into the wooden structure beneath.

Once tightened, the fixing kept the safe firmly positioned while maintaining clear access to the door and digital keypad.

The safe also has an external battery arrangement, allowing the lock to be powered externally if the internal battery ever becomes depleted.

Once installation was complete, we demonstrated how to set and operate the digital lock and made sure the customer was comfortable using the safe. Before leaving, our installer provided a certificate of installation.

The safe also has four pre-drilled base fixing holes, and these were all used as well. A further four expanding anchor bolts were installed through the base and directly into the cement floor below.

This gave the safe eight structural fixing points in total — four into the wall and four into the floor — securing it to the fabric of the building in two directions and providing excellent resistance to removal.

Once installation was complete, we cleaned away the drilling dust and debris, demonstrated how to programme and operate the digital keypad, explained the emergency override keys and external battery features, and provided the customer with a certificate of installation.
